Guest iliketoparty Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Alrighty, Have you tried going in to Settings > Data connections then selecting WAP? Just a thought. Party
Guest martin Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 I replied to a similar question here (assuming its an Orange connection) http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=35830 I've also just managed to setup WAP on O2 'Pay as you go' for both GSM and GPRS connections. I am now trying GSM/GPRS WAP for T-mobile 'Pay as you go' but their GPRS:MMS/WAP is down at the moment - database failure seemingly. Vodaphone won't give GPRS to PAYG sim unless its for a LIVE account. (i'e if you haven't got LIVE SIM purchased with a GX10 then you won't get GPRS).
Guest Zim Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Hi martin, i tried for hours to get wap to work on my SPV but with no luck! , was wondering if you can tell me the settings i done a seacr but i think there all for gprs, not gsm normal dial up! i have a Genie sim and would like to use my unlimited free wap, so can you please help thanx Zima
Guest martin Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 I take it Genie is Contract ? I haven't got O2 contract but I would try this (same as details in above link but change to O2 contract settings) WAP settings for both GPRS and GSM networks. Create proxy Description : O2 WAP proxy The Internet, WAP Network, 193.113.200.195, WAP Create GPRS connection (WAP over GPRS) Description: O2 WAP The Internet, wap.o2.co.uk, o2wap, password Create Dial Up connection (WAP over GSM) Description: O2 CSD WAP The Internet, 44, 7712, 927927, o2wap, password In data connection make WAP connection = O2 WAP (or O2 CSD WAP) In IE, tick 'Automatically detect settings'. If you already have net access with Internet connection=O2 GPRS then it should automatically select between WAP and non WAP connections. If you have any problems with WAP, de-tick auto detect and 'select Network=WAP network' and test with WAP data connections set to O2WAP (GPRS) and then O2 CSD (GSM) connections. Note:I had bad coverage on O2 (with 2 bars in home) and had a lot of errors with connection fails and pages not found. These problems did not occur in area with better signal. See GPRS/WAP/MMS repository for further info. http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=4861
