Depends on what you have been doing with your phone.

Can you give anymore info on what you have done etc.

This might not be a bug so don't worry if it gets moved to another area on the site.

I have done nothing to it at all other than apply the ugrade which seemed to go without a hitch - the battery ran out yesterday while the phone was switched on (not incall) and since then I have been unable to reboot.

Please help if you can

Cheers

Might be looking at a hard reset. Or maybe reapplying the update? If it works it will save your custom IPSM data....

Tried redoing the update but the phone needs to be switched on and as it is stuck at the orange welcome screen it wil proceed no further

What can I do ? I have also tried removing and re-inserting the battery to no avail

Cheers

There is no way to get to the three color screen? or to the bootloader menu?

Couldn't you use USBterm to fix it? Or a backup put on the card with a card reader and WinHEX?

Orange are couriering out a new phone for tomorrow morning for me

Hi guys

I've just had my phone do the same thing. I've not run the lastest update but I have unlocked it and changed some minor things in the registry (moving Ringtones to SD Card & installed keypad speech) but the phone was working fine for weeks after that.

One common factor seems to be the flat battery tho cos my phone also had the battery go flat yesterday and turned itself off. Tho it was running OK after i recharged it until now - i turned it of and now whenever i try to turn it back on it freezes on the sunset screen.

don't know if this helps anyone but i would be careful about leaving the battery to go flat.

An unhappy & SPV-less

Wingers

By the way has anyone had any probs with Orange replacing an Unlocked phone?

Not sure, if you're worried about it and you've not already returned it you could always have hard reset it, removing all evidence it ever was de-certed.

Another method you can now try is running the update when it's in the Canary tricolour screen, this may help repair any corruption.

Same story here - i let the battery go flat, the phone now hangs on the orange screen and the bootloader refuses to load! I've also tried applying the orange update whilst it was on the 3 colour screen, which completed successfully but didnt solve the freezing problem!

Looks like im phoning orange for another handset! :x

The same thing happened to my phone, and i got really scared because I had just terminated my contract with Orange and and warranty is now void.

I had the new dutch ROM, the phone was de-certed and sim-unlocked when the problem came. I also left the phone's battery to fully discharge (as the Orange site recommends us to do). Suddenly I found myself without a phone.

I was able to get the three colour screen by pressing the off, record and volume up buttons simultaneously, but it allowed me to go to the bootloader by pressing a button.

I counln't find the dutch rom in the Orange site, and I lost the CD that Orange mailed me. I managed to download the UK update and installed it.

The Smartphone 2002 screen showed up giving me hope, and to my surprise the phone worked!  Otherwise I think I might have had to find a friend and try out his SPV battery.

So, there is hope. There are two different variables that I find here:

1. I installed a upgrade from a region other than the one that was initially installed.

2. I was able to access the bootloader.

3. Windows asked me to provide the drivers for the phone whilst on the bootloader, and wceusbsh.sys worked.

I hope this helps, and damn Orange for not trying to fix it.

Regards,

André
