Guest vampyre69 Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 If you go here.... http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/smartphone...ads/default.asp And click on theme genereator is comes up with an error saying could not be found :!: If you go here.... http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/d...s/powertoys.asp It says pocket pc but does it work with the SPV? I wanted to try out the theme generator to make my own xml file with the clock in different position with date etc etc etc... Any ideas :?:
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 FYI: The theme generator from MS only allows you to set colour schemes and the background image, no xml editing unfortunately. If you are still interested http://www.monolithix.org/SPV_software has a working link
Guest Dave Abrey Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 I'm not sure about any updates or changes to the Theme Generator. However, I don't think it will help with what you want to do :). The Theme Generator will allow you to specify the various system colours, and the background, but it won't do anything to change the layout ;). I found the best way to change the layout was to use xml code of the standard layouts as a template. There are a few posts about customising the layout, including a link to the Microsoft white paper discussing the various home page plug-ins. I found it very easy to create a layout that added the date between the carrier and time, remove the orange links (news, gallery etc), and change the icons displayed at the top. Hope this helps, Dave.
Guest vampyre69 Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 I found the best way to change the layout was to use xml code of the standard layouts as a template. Dave. What software did you use? Is there anywhere I can get a list of example code or a glossary etc?
Guest Dave Abrey Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Good old notepad/wordpad :). Just remember to save the file as a unicode text file!!!. I don't know any xml coding, but with the aid of the MS white paper, an existing Orange layout xml file as a template, and This Post, I managed to sort it out. As for example code, I don't have any, but I'm sure that a search on Google or something will give a few sites with xml info. But to be honest, I don't think you really need to know much xml if you're not going to do any massive alterations. If you just want something that is a slight change from some of the defaults, you should be able to just delete a few lines of code here or there and move a few things about ;). If you want some ideass, have a look through the customisation forum here, as a few people have posted some samples of their code for the layouts. It's all very instructional . Regards, Dave.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Plenty of example code in Windows and IPSMApplication Datahome ;p
