Guest Emmag Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 When I enter Settings then Security the three options for Phone Lock, SIM Lock and SIM Password are displayed for about a second and then I'm taken to my Home screen. If I select any of the three options quickly the subsequent screens behave the same way and I don't have time to enter any passwords to change my PIN etc. This is the only menu option that behaves this way. The phone has the UK Update and I've decerted it. Anybody any idea what's going on?
Guest Richie M Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 I have this on other menus as well, no idea why (Uk Update & De-Cert) only really seems to do it soon after power on. Soz no help.
Guest MisterCurly Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Bloody hell yeah!....... I dont really use the security menu but after reading your post ive just had a quick look and it does the same thing on my phone. Maybe you have discoverd a new bug? Does anyone else have this problem?
Guest zenabi Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Go to Settings - Home Screen and make sure the Time out setting is set to Never. Emmag: Im not sure why the time out only happens with the Security settings menu though, but hopefully the above will fix it.
Guest MisterCurly Posted February 28, 2003 Report Posted February 28, 2003 Nice one zenabi that seems to have done the trick mate!
Guest Richie M Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Didn't for me :) Already had it set to that ;)
Guest Emmag Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Didn't work for me unfortunately. ...but I have found that after I've been bounced back to my home screen pressing the back button takes me back to the security menus and this time they don't time out.
Guest orange_sandman Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 just did same to me. phone is set to never return to home page. Have they done this deliberately to prevent people screwing up their settings by accident? Tried quickly clicking on the option to enable sim lock, got to the next screen and it promptly locked up. (didnt find out if it unlocked itself after a while as my patience ran out after 30 seconds and the battery came off) Does everyone with the update get this glitch? (not really bothered as I never use the security options and had only tried it because i read this thread)
Guest Gorskar Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I noticed this problem also, and have an alternative fix. use the SPV task manager (see this thread) to switch back to the security settings after it quits. It then works properly. Of course you will need to have de-certed your phone to run task manger.
Guest zenabi Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 I've noticed my SPV having the same problem now  (UK update but not de-certified) It seems when you go into the Security settings menu the phone cuts the signal momentarily and has to search for the network again. If you didn't already know, the SPV goes back to the home screen when it searches/finds a network. Emmag: It might be useful to add this bug to the BugTrack forum if it hasn't been added already.
Guest SirGaz Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Mine is doing it also, and it wasn't like that pre-update. Although it is only minor, it's definately a bug.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Moved to the bug section for tidiness
Guest Dave.Burn Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 had the same problem with mine but only since the update (joint FR/UK). Try about 3 times and it does what it should
