Guest Tachyon Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 My girlfriend did this to her T68i :) Take teh battery off and dry the phone and battery separately somewhere warm - note, not hot :-) Leave it a few days, you may be lucky. ATB, Frank.
Guest spikex Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 If it's insured get a replacement...if it's not claim on your warranty.
Guest JabbaTheSlut Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 i dropped mine in a beer about a month ago, luckyly, it landed top down and it was OK! hurrah! Orange Care doesnt cover water damage i dont think, so home insurance is your best bet Jabba
Guest spikex Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Orange Care cover accidental or malicious damage as well as handset failure. Just tell them that it's a handset failure thenif it wont switch on...how they gonna know that it went under water? Doesn't say anything about water...unless you intentionally put it under water and you told them that (but no one is that stupid, right?) then you're alright...and if you're paying for Orange Care might as well take advantage of it.
Guest martin Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Just a few questions in case this happens to my phone. 1. Did this re-enable the application security settings ? 2. Do you recommend a backup of ISPM before the intended dip ? 3. Did it make your phone work any faster ? If the phone fails to recover, cut and paste the following to Orange and you should get a response. Dear Orange, I am a valued customer. It seems I have ever so accidently dropped my SPV down the bog and now the phone won't work . Please can you send me one of your brand new SPVx Tanager phones, as a replacement, as soon as its its released. Yours sincerely funkmasterp
Guest JabbaTheSlut Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 How about "beer-damage" then :?: :) ;) it was fine, dropped it, landed so the lugs at the bottom weren't submerged, took it out, left it to dry overnight and it was fine. in hindsight, it was really funny becasue for the few brief seconds it was in there the pint glowed, haha Jabba
Guest Firaas Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 If it's insured get a replacement...if it's not claim on your warranty. Or if it's not, you can have a new one for either: £70 [*]£30 plus £5/month insurance for 12 months It's called Emergency Care, ring customer services.
Guest jtsaint Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I have damaged two of my phones - one in the sink and one in a urinal and Orange replaced both of them ( I was insured ). They will not replace my handset cause of the dust though. I said " Isnt this a well known problem, SPV and dust in the screen" .. he said " no, this is not a known problem and none of my colleagues have got dust in their phones " I said "so you are telling me that this isnt a known problem " he said "no" I said "then clearly mu phone is damaged of faulty then in which case please replace it" he said "I will get a supervisor to call u back" they didnt
Guest Firaas Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 Ask them to log a fault with technical support. Technical support will then forward an advisory to replace the phone. Who did you speak to? You should be speaking to the Orange Helpdesk, who you can speak to by asking for (their number, 154, doesn't seem to be working).
Guest mattat Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 I think from reading the terms and conditions of orange care (for what they are worth) Orange Care does cover water damage where it has been accidentally dropped in a body of water/beer etc, but that it does cover 'vapour' damage which results from atmospheric conditions - so that if you go into a club and it's very very sweaty and damp and the phone breaks then that wouldn't be covered. A lot of the old sony phones had a sticker that went red if it came into contact with water so showing water damage -it was under the sim card.
Guest Firaas Posted March 1, 2003 Report Posted March 1, 2003 What is a BOG?? What is a MUM?? Bog = British slang for toilet Mum = Mom or mother.
Guest pete1312 Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 Bog = British slang for toilet Mum = Mom or mother. Toilet = John (Just for the sake of intercontinental clarity - or should that have read "incontinent" :)
Guest funkmasterp Posted March 2, 2003 Report Posted March 2, 2003 ITS WORKING AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Cheers Everyone! ;)
