Hey Guys

Is the XDA Serial Cable compatible with the SPV? I've read that there both very similiar, so thought it might be possible. I dont really want to spend £30 on a cable of O when I can get one for the XDA for £5 from a local shop.

Cheers

ALL XDA cables are EXACTLY the same, you just turn the connector over for the SPV. I have both and love that I only need to carry one USB Charge and Synch cable. I also have the serial cable from the XDA and it works fine (but slow - it is serial) for the SPV.

I ordered an XDA cable for the cable, plugged it into the usb and it's not recognised. Phone charges ok, active synch will not connect however.

any ideas, tried updating the driver for the usb but no joy. any ideas ?

Hi. not sure if the cradle works on the same machine.

I'm having the same problem with the cradle on my home XP. just will not see the phone as being connected. USB port is avaiable ? very weird indeed.

Make sure you have ActiveSynch 3.6 installed, and make sure that you have the phone booted up BEFORE hooking up - there is a higher propensity for errors connecting if you hook it up before the OS is actually loaded.

Also, check you have COM port enabled in Active Sync and that it's set to the correct COM port for your PC's serial port

Well the cradle works fine on XP machine. attempt to connect via the XDA cable and it comes up as an unrecognised device. XDA cable charges the phone fine, just no active synch connection.

i can live with it like this, be nice to have the XDA cable working tho.

any ideas ? aside from removing all the usb drivers, restarting windows in safe mode, deleting the drivers again then re-installing Active Synch and then plugging the cable back in and connectingt he phone ?

cheers

I have probably 4-5 different cables (I even use the USB charger cable with an AC plug to USB and a Car charger plug to USB so I only have one cable and different "plugs") and they all work on the XDA and the SPV with no issues - all sync & charge. I would try another cable....
