Guest Flash Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 I apologise if this is old news (I did a search, but didn't find any mention of it so....), just found this info on www.coolsmartphone.com this evening regarding SPV cases. It appears we finally have a proper one :) You can find the info here http://www.coolsmartphone.com/case/case.htm
Guest madu Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Yep seen before... Very ugly in my opinion though!!
Guest Flash Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Fair enough, but it solves my one main problem - I can now see who's calling!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Yeah noticed that on Orange Shop webbie the other day. Still don't see the point of them :)
Guest yatpeak Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 It really does seem like a good case, but a little loose in my opinion. I found a great case except for the fact that there is a hole at the bottom of the screen that is meant to go over the directional pad of a different phone. Wyatt
Guest MISMan Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 I know that 40,000 have been sold, and I think that is enough to justify getting some nice cases.
Guest agent.m Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 id rather people just see an ugly phone in a case so they dont steal it. out of the case people have there eye on it. i got a simular one for siemens sl45i.
Guest capt_janeway Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Agree totally with Agent M - as a victim I wish I had the wrist strap so I could have tried to hold onto my SPV. I'm going to give it a go and have order one!
Guest Thurstan Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Same happened to my mate the other day - dirty rotten scoundrel just bashed his hand, caught the phone and scarpered. Wrist strap probably would have helped - then again the thieving scum are so persistent they would probably tear your arm off as well to get the phone.
Guest chocobogo Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 looks like the nokia 6210 case that I am using!!
Guest fraser Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 dirty rotten scoundrel just bashed his hand, caught the phone and scarpered. Then chase after them and break their legs. It's not that difficult!! :) If people stand up for themselves, then crimes like these won't happen. Imagine if everyone around you always chased the thief, there wouldn't be much thieving going on after a short while. Everyone is so apathetic these days, it really sucks.
Guest sbsdegb1 Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Catch him and break all his fingers on both hands. then see if he can steal. Infact whilst you have in on the ground break his arms too.
Guest Midas Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Catch him and break all his fingers on both hands. then see if he can steal. Infact whilst you have in on the ground break his arms too. its a great idea... The only problem with that is that after you have broken the scum's arms and legs you then get arrested for GBH and sent to jail or made to pay the scum damages - he gets better then starts nicking again while laughing at you! Legal system sux!
Guest sticky Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Then chase after them and break their legs. It's not that difficult!! :) . That's quite a niave thing to say - most people who have been mugged in this way are immediately suffering from shock and unable to think straight . Advising them to run after someone and attack them, and saying they should stand up for themselves more, is just idiot. It's just a phone - not worth risking your life over.
Guest fraser Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 It's just a phone - not worth risking your life over."This is London, not the Lebabnon", says the movie. You aren't going to get killed chasing a mugger. Even if you chase for 30 seconds and give up, you'll have given them a scare that might just stop them from mugging someone else. If you make yourself an easy target, then you are only contributing to the problem. Honestly, people these days are so weak. We used to live in caves and kill our own food, protecting our own from other predators and people. Now people panic if you sit next to them on a bus. you then get arrested for GBH and sent to jail or made to pay the scum damages Nah. You don't hang about and get caught. Chances are that the thief has prior convictions and is really unlikely to want to go to the police. Even if they do, the police won't put any effort into finding you.
Guest Hax Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 Yeah, but dson't forget that theives generally target those who look less likely to be able to put up a fight or win a fight should one start. Plus, on top of that, the theives are likely to be carrying a weapon of some sort - most likely a knife. How many of us "non-theives" just happen to carry a knife with them when out and about shopping? Hax
Guest srider Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 "This is London, not the Lebabnon", says the movie. You aren't going to get killed chasing a mugger. Thieves often carry weapons, and use them when threatened. If someone is directly threatening you, fight back, but otherwise you're taking a huge risk. Is your life really worth less than a mobile phone??? Nah. You don't hang about and get caught. Chances are that the thief has prior convictions and is really unlikely to want to go to the police. Even if they do, the police won't put any effort into finding you.
Guest capt_janeway Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 I think you are being a little unfair - a single woman travelling alone is an easy target and will not fight back. At the end of the day they get 1-2 hours max usage from your phone - less if you lock it so why put yourself at risk for a hunk of plastic? And as for the police - my local station has a sign telling people not to report mobile thefts as there is nothing they can/will do. I'd rather have the inconvenience of losing my phone than being hit, stabbed or physically abused - anyone who says otherwise is a fool
Guest fraser Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 At the end of the day they get 1-2 hours max usage from your phoneCoincidently, there was mention of the new IMEI database and tougher penalties on the BBC News last night. They seemed to make a point of stressing that the stolen phones are only useless in this country. Thanks BBC for giving the thieves ideas on how/where to sell stolen phones! my local station has a sign telling people not to report mobile thefts as there is nothing they can/will do. Cheeky bastards. Inform the press, this is bullshit. They introduce new laws then radically change the recording of the effects of these laws. So, in a few months time, they will say "mobile phone theft has gone down as a result of the new legislation", when it's really to do with the Polices refusal do record each crime.
