Guest Prits_uk2002 Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 Hi i have a few questions about connecting the SPV to the computer. 1. What partnership do i select when i connect my phone to the computer standard or guest? 2. Whats the difference between them? 3. Why does it always ask me to setup a partnership?
Guest SirGaz Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 1. Depends on what you are doing. If you want to set it up on your own PC and intend to use the partnership a lot then a standard connection is the way to go. If you are borrowing someone's PC then opt for the guest as this doen't set anything up on their machine. 2. The standard connection allows access to the full functionality of Active Sync (except backup which doesn't work with smartphone). It allows you to install, sync and explore etc. The Guest partnership only allows you to explore the device being connected and will not allow syncing to occur. It is also temporary (i.e. only valid for that connection) whereas the standard connection is saved on both the phone and the PC and they recognize each other when connected. 3. Once a standard partnership is set up it shouldn't ask you again. The only times it will ask are if you perform a hard rest on the phone or you delete the partnership from either the phone or the PC through active sync.
