Guest flashfodder Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 I think I'm gonna  . I'm  & over this application unlocking thing. I've tried & tried. I've followed the PROVXML unlock procedure sooo many times, my lack of sleep is affecting my work & I reckon I'm the thinnest person on the planet!!! Up until the screen goes blue, I'm fine. Easy Peasy! wait a coupla seconds. Place it in the cradle! all fine. After about 10-15 seconds Activesync starts to connect. This is where things start to go wrong..... I think the main problem I find is it says wait until Activesync has finished connecting to the phone. The problem with this is when Activesync has connected, it no longer recognises the phone and won't let me copy the 2 files until I've registered the phone. By the time I've either registered or said it was a guest, the phone has got to the home screen and I'm too late. So... The next option is to copy the files while Activesync is ...well ....sync-ing. I can do this but I have about a 5 second window & although I've tried this hundreds of times, the 'lovely piece of kit' just won't be 'really really nice' to me and unlock my phone.... Soo.... :) Does anyone out there who's unlocked there phone using this method know of a 'definitive' point to copy these files?
Guest BAMN Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 you need to have the folder where you copy the files active on the screen so you can ignore registering a partnership. Make sure you have the pin code enabled to give you more time, also having the power plugged into the cradle also helps.
Guest flashfodder Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 That's cool but do I have to wait till the partnership message comes up or can I copy the files while it's still connecting? If I wait, Do I click on guest to get rid of the message because I've found that while this message is there, even tho I have the windows directory window open, It won't allow me to copy with the partnership message open.
Guest BAMN Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 as soon as the files appear in the window you are connected and you can past the files
Guest Myke Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 keep pressing ctrl+v untill it finally says "would you like to replace the file" then say yes. it should copy the file over BEFORE it makes a connection. i did it once, but it somehow got locked again and im trying to do it again but i havent been lucky.. ive gotta try again
Guest Hax Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 First time after update took about an hour and a half - phone then recerted itself on Saturday, but managed to remove cert requirement on second attempt yesterday ;) Use sync/charge cable connected to win2k machine with sim lock on and sd card instered. With the two windows open (one pointing to pc copy of modifed provxml and the other pointing to the smartphones windows directory), I right clicked the file and chose copy. Then when the blue screen appeared on SPV (immediately - or as soon as poss!) I connected it to the cable and kept right-clicking in SPV's Windows folder and choosing paste. Eventually got there and even though the SPV seemed to have booted up (was at the simlock screen), the file was still copied across in time. Ignore all active sync prompts except ones relating to the copying of the file. BTW, as a quick and easy way to test if the process worked, you could try installing and running the PC-remote-control-of-your-SPV app - have a look at Mono's homepage for a link. It's unsigned and installs itself onto the phone correctly, with an item in the start menu meaning no all-explorer required :) HTH, Hax
Guest looeee Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 I found that I did not have to wait until I could see the files in the Windows folder I didn't wait for it to complete connecting I drag-and-drop the file a second after I hear that noise that activestink makes when it first starts to connect looeee
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 4, 2003 Report Posted March 4, 2003 That is the correct method. Ignore all ActiveSync prompts and copy the files to Windows (which you should leave open) as soon as the ActiveSync "do-do-dink" connected sound goes off....
Guest okocha10 Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 maybe i was lucky but i done it first time and there was no rushing or pin codes 2 slow it down.just take ur time follow the instructions and u should be laughing all the way 2 Doom,Gameboy/snes emulaters,etc....
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 Same here, on two different SPVs, but that was before the FR Update. One of those phones went back to Orange Customer Service and just came back out-of-the-box but with the update installed, so i shall now see how hard it is to decert it. Worse comes to worse, I'll try the ROM image method from that .fr.fm site...
