How do I put music on the phone, so that Windows Media Player can pick it up and play it?

Open up activesync, go to my smartphone and then go to storage card and then just put them in there and windows media should automatically find them

I find that Windows Media Player does not copy files directly to my sd card ( I use version 9). It recognised my Smartphone device, recognised the storage card but only allowed me to copy music to the device. So I ended up copying my music from a cd, for example editing the album titles and song titles, using Windows Media Player (desktop) and it converted it into windows media format and saved it in the My Music folder of My Documents. I then just opened Activesync, went to my storage card, copied from My Music and pasted in my storage card. My player on the spv then found them on the card. I'm sure there's a shorter way of doing it but this worked for me. And yes, I did choose the option of copying secure material in Windows Media Player.

I got it to work by copying the music from CD to computer in Media Player like you said. Then I copied it via Active Sync, and everything worked fine, however, the file I think is pretty big; It is 2.97MB. Is that too big?

Yep, too big I think! May be wrong. What I did was to set up the size settings in the desktop Windows Media Player so that it records from the cds in the smallest size possible. [(Tools/Options/Copy Music) and move the slider to what you desire.] Smallest size gives about 22Mb for a whole cd. I've got about 5 cds on my 128Mb card. It still gives relatively good quality when used with the headphones.

Just drag and drop the .WMA file into the storage card folder

If you edit the album details on your desktop (in cases where the album details are not found on the net), song titles, artist etc., then Media player puts it all in one folder under My Music. I just drag and drop the folder onto my storage card then I have all the details when the songs are playing.

I'm having trouble doing this. I've copied CDs onto my PC (wma and mp3 formats) and have bought a 64Mb SD card today. Still can't get the music to play on my SPV. I've tried doing it via Windows Media Player (no joy) and by clicking-and-dragging from explorer onto Storage card in ActiveSync. I can read the track name but it won't play. What am I doing wrong? Are there settings that I've missed by any chance? I've read all the preceding postings and still it won't work. Doh.

i think the frequency has to be 44100Hz or less, the bit rate can be any amount of Kbps. Thats wot i found worked with me. I use a program called dBpowerAMP Music Converter

Yep, it does ave to be that specific sample rate. And it Pocket Media Player 8. Now way to update unless MS release a new version and Orange decide to distro it.

It's me again.

I've cracked it. Copied a CD into the Media Player library, then onto the Storage Card. Simple as that. Works a treat, and got 2 whole Art of noise albums onto the SD with room to spare.

Yesterday, I upgraded to XP and got V9 of the Player. I've not had to do anything else - not even touched the settings. solved the problem without even realising it.

Sweet!
