Guest vijay555 Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 People, don't know what the going rate is for one of these, and i know that they're not really compatible with SPV, but still, was just in the Orange shop asking about release date of SPVx ("we should have a release date in a couple of weeks"), and noticed the:- Jabra BT200 Freespeak Bluetooth Headset for £59.99. don't know if it's cheap, but damn tasty and almost worth buying a bluetooth phone for... So, hope it helps someone out. V ps this was in cheapside, london; don't know if it's national.
Guest Firaas Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 Seems very cheap - the cheapest I've seen to date in a shop is £100. Jabra seems to be a quality brand as well...
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 What's the Jabra model that has a bluetooth transmitter included - the XDA one works with the SPV I believe? P
Guest Firaas Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 I do believe it's the BT200 with an adapter that fits Non-Bluetooth phones. The full model is 100-91030000-02.
Guest neilg Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 that IS cheap, 79.99 is the going rate and has been the orange price too up until now. See my other post someewhere (hardware forum) but Jabra UK have advised that the one for non-bluetooth phones might miss some features of the SPV specific one which will ship in April. I already have the basic headset though and expect to be able to buy the base untit for the SPV as and accesory which will work with the standard freespeak headset. :n)
Guest vijay555 Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 so people, tell me, is it worth buying? it was marked down from £79, but was in their display cabinet so i presume it's not a one-off. and it's so "Minority Report" :) Neilg, read your hardware post, tell me: could we buy this, and pray that the base unit isn't too steep when released? is >this< headset compatible with the soon-to-be-released base station units, or is it a stand-alone? and am i wrong to assume that any jabra bluetooth headset should be fairly compatible with any jabra basestation? V
Guest neilg Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 not 100% sure but my understanding is that only the software in the base is modified and the software in the freespeak earpiece stays the same, if not I am sure they would blow new firmware to the headset (as they had to for Nokia phones recently), but I have nothing from Jabra to confirm this. Basically I took the gamble as they seem to be selling the base seperatly as an accesory for the other headsets at about 20 bucks or something like that (from memory)
