Guest KimMadsen Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 Hi, After fooling around with decerting it the normal way without any luck, I decided to go another route which others have been playing with on the UK update. And it works :) But it do require you to have your phone unlocked and not have entered the DK update 2. First visit http://62.4.16.139/jc/index.html People not understanding french may have problems, but dont despair. In the left menu click on 'Déblocage SPV HYPER TERMINAL' Find in right window '3 - Télécharger USBTerm.exe ICI' and click on ICI Save the downloaded file as USBTerm.exe Now make a complete backup of your phone: - Turn the phone off. - Make sure no SD memory cards are in the phone. - Hold the button under the power button while you turn on the phone again. - Keep the 'joystick/action' button pressed for a few secs. - Insert a SD memory card of minimum 128MB (that works for sure). - Select to backup all. - Let it do that. It will finish after quite a while saying Passed. Do not touch phone or turn it off in the meantime. - After the backup remove the SD card. - Turn your phone off then on (actually it will usually boot your phone trying to turn it off) - Let it start normal. - Do the update procedure for DK Update 2. - After the update has completed turn off your phone (by removing the battery) - Hold the button under the power button while you turn on the phone again. - Keep the 'joystick/action' button pressed for a few secs. - Insert a SD memory card of minimum 128MB (that works for sure). - Put the phone back in its cradle if its not there. - Start the Taskmanager in WinNT/2K/XP and kill the wcecomms process. - Start a Dos command prompt. - Start USBTerm in the dos prompt. - Type qfs 9 and press Enter - Wait! It will copy the IPSM data from the backup back to the phone. It will take a while. On my trial it ended with a very long period of Checking..... which I terminated (by removing the battery) after approx. 10 minutes. - Start your phone normally. - It may after start show a white dialog saying 'Updating dont turn the phone off' and autoboot afterwards. Then you are running latest update de certed ;) best regards Kim Madsen

I've suggested this in a previous post, but if the update changes anything in the default implementation of IPSM, then your restore from backup will overwrite these changes. The offical update utility will be aware of this, and will likely modify the current files, if you are installing the update without a hard-reset. I'm a software tester, so it's my job to see into potential cock-ups though this sort of thing.

Its most probably because some file still contain an older signature. Apart from that the phone works flawlessly. Actually it really seems I have gotten better radio coverage than usual after the update.

Guest Niklas Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 Kim, måske er jeg spasser men i punkt 6 af din gennemgang - select to backup all - har jeg problemer.. hvis jeg følger de forrige steps har jeg nu canary DIAG v.0.81 på skærmen.. mulighederne er: erase ipsm, save OEM, load OEM, save SFON, load SFON, save LANG, load LANG, save OPER, load OPER, SIMlock, default, set flag og end... hvilken vælger jeg her for at lave backup'en ??? tak... :roll:

I can use the old update but that won't get rid of this new stupid Bootloader (v0.98).. The new bootloader don't give you the option to Delete IPSM and coldstart the phone. Please help!!! I'm from Sweden and I'm using Vodafone so there's really nowhere to turn to here :/

Wouldn't it be enough to restore the old version of the bootloader. If the old bootloader is compatible with the new IPSM then we would be able to fix the certification in the usual way without the need to overwrite the complete IPSM, right? Can anyone make a backup of the bootloader and upload it!!!?!
