Guest mik_an Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 Its mostly about the new update, but it also states that from week 12 we will be able to buy accessories for the SPV in Denmark. The price for the keyboard is 549 Dkr. = 75 Euro There will also be a carkit price 1500 Dkr. = 200 Euro (no picture)SPV-keyboard.gif
Guest amo Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 Woah cool! I look forward to the keyboard! Looks kinda crappy but would be usefull. bit expensive too
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 The Neoprone one at last, another useless toy to aquire. If only a word/excel viewer were to turn up to go with it... :/ Can't wait :)
Guest amo Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 Dunno about useless, would be good for gaming!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 There is that yeah, imagine trying to play quake on the train with that though heheh. Like i say i'm interersted in its editing possibilites...
Guest Vector Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 Suppose i should post this in wishlist but it would be so cool if some one made an adapter so you could use 2 usb things at once eg.keyboard and mouse for doom :). ah well could always dream about it........
Guest amo Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 Doom never required a mouse, it wasnt proper 3d
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 I'll still want one, hopefully all the programming stars here will include it in their apps :)
Guest benjymous Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 am I the only one who thinks that keyboard is way too big? I want a teeny keyboard, like the chatboards Ericsson make for their phone (i.e. something that'll comfortably fit in my pocket)
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 I think it's cloth and actually rolls up purdy tight. Not like a chatboard, tho... but those are only good for SMS anyway.
Guest Hax Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Suppose i should post this in wishlist but it would be so cool if some one made an adapter so you could use 2 usb things at once eg.keyboard and mouse for doom :). ah well could always dream about it........ Unfortunately, I don't think the SPV is a USB master, just a USB slave. Therefore, it cannot control USB devices but can be controlled by a master (i.e. your PC) I'm assuming that the keyboard simply plugs into the serial part of the SPV's adapter. Also, a USB master has to be able to provide 500 mA of current at 5V (I think these figures are correct) - can you imagine how short you battery life would be then  Just my thoughts, Hax
Guest Vector Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I don't understand a thing of what you just wrote but i see what you mean.
Guest fraser Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 has to be able to provide 500 mA of current at 5V (I think these figures are correct) - can you imagine how short you battery life would be then Yup, you're correct, but the device can also be self powered and won't actually draw any current if that's it's design. Hopefully any mobile device like that has battery conservation built in, but an existing keyboard and mouse probably won't. The existing charger is 1000 mA at 5V, so it would last half the length of time it takes to do a charge before a SPV-powered USB accessory would commit hari-kari :) That's about 1.5 hours I think...
Guest orange_sandman Posted March 15, 2003 Report Posted March 15, 2003 Pics of the car kit are now in the news section on bornsloppy.co.uk (or coolsmartphone as they are now known) Looks pretty cool, but doesnt seem to give UK price or what source the pics came from.
