8 bloody messages I knew nothing about.

And the phone keeps crashing. Grrr.... having a bad day with this piece of crap today. The P800 is beckoning...

the infinite sign means check your voice messages

Huh? :?

I have had this problem too. The symbol doesn't appear. It's the same bug that stops your txts from getting to the phone. Try imporing your txts from your SIM Bazz and the alert should appear

There were a few cases of this when the SPV first came out (and of the VMail icon staying on!), but haven't heard anything for a while.

Could you possible have a faulty unit? Phones should not really be crashing post update... (mine doesn't!)

its not an infinite sign, it's an icon that is supposed to represent tape reels, i.e a answermachine tape!!

Thanks Myke, but I have had my SPV and other phones for a while now (check my post count) ;-)

Used to have this problem (and SMSes going to the SIM), but it hasn't since the 1st time. I updated last Monday and the phone's been very flakey ever since. Crashes loads and only recognises the SD card half the time. I'll try a hard reset this weekend and if that doesn't sort it it's going back to Orange.

Lack of notification of answerphone messages is not just a SPV problem. Having been with Orange for 5 years, each phone I have had has either failed to tell me on occasions that I have messages or persists in telling me that I have some when I have none.

It is an Orange glitch that happens occasionally and no matter what handset you have, you may very well get the same problem.

Seems to happen a lot more with the SPV though. I've never had it on another hadnset and have been with Orange for about 5 years. As strathclydezero said, on the SPV, sometimes SMSes are put on the SIM and you aren't told of them so that might be why. I've only had this problem when I first got my phone so maybe after the first import it's fine and that this case was a random one, rather than SPV specific.

PS. Has Paul gone a bit mental? (edit) Ah he's edited his post... (/edit)

This point has already been covered. If you use the Search facility and Voicemail as the topic, you can find it. Help on using Search can be found in the Beginners' section. :)

i had this problem with my SPV not providing voicemail alerts (especially when roaming) or SMS. I eventually replaced the phone and would normally have suspected the network but in my case it was definatly the phone as trying with a 6310 and a t68 the voicemail flags came up staright away and SMS were delivered. Putting the SIM back into the SPV still didnt show VM flags.

I have since had a replacement handset and had the upgrade and so far no problems although I have started using the 6310 during the daytime as I cannot afford to take the risk that I am missing business calls.
