Guest Lojt Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 When i connect my phone to my laptop (which is running win 98 ) with the cradle, it wont connect. It just sits there on the active sync screen saying 'Not Connected', with the grey round icon. I tried rebooting phone and pc, tried reinstalling activesync, tried the activesync fix Paul posted a while back, even tried hard-resetting my phone, and still wont connect :) If i go to the 'Get Connected' screen and plug the phone in, active sync says bliblib, the phone lights up and the 'Get Connected' window closes. But it still doesn't connect. The wierd thing is, if i try to connect via IR, it works fine... I have other working USB devices, so i know the USB port is working fine. btw, i havent installed the danish update yet.
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 Seeing as you've been around a while and mention a laptop, I assume this phone and cradle combo have worked on at least another PC? If not, perhaps it's the cradle?
Guest Lojt Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 Its working on another pc, and its worked before on my laptop...
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 Have you tried deleting the partnership and setting up a new one? (clutching at straws...)
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 Its working on another pc, and its worked before on my laptop... Weird - you've not installed anything (since it last worked) that could have affected the USB-drivers?
Guest Lojt Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 Well Chris, i did fiddle alot with the usb drivers to make the modem work (before anyone figured that it only works in nt/2k/xp), but i tried removing all usb stuff from the device manager and have my pc reinstall them itself (like Paul descibes in his guide). oh and Syvwlch, i tried everything, even reinstalled activesync, so no go on that one :)
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 oh and Syvwlch, i tried everything, even reinstalled activesync, so no go on that one :) That's right you'd even said so in the initial post... I'm sorry Keystroke, I'm at the end of my rope. This is really strange. Tried reinstalling the OS on the PC?
Guest Lojt Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 Tried reinstalling the OS on the PC? That would be the next step i think...
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 So, Keystroke, did you sort this out in the end? There is one other thread about a similar problem, and the bloke ended up replacing his motherboard!
Guest yatpeak Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Before you give up, have you tried the phone on another PC since it stopped working on your laptop? Wyatt
Guest Lojt Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 As i mentioned earlier, my phone works with my regular pc. Its only doing this on my laptop.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 I'm guessing you've updated all of your drivers to the latest versions and Win98 is fully patched? You might want to look at updating your laptops BIOS too...

If i really want it to work i guess i will try to reinstall windows. :|
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 17, 2003 Report Posted March 17, 2003 Windows is a tempermental thing, you might want to look into updating your drivers etc before resorting to a format and reload. Just a suggestion :) I've moved this to help and advice btw...
