Guest theodotcom Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Hi I registered on the site and entered my voucher number, however i cannot find an application on the site to download for smartphone, and most pages give errors, is anyone else having this problem?
Guest pete1312 Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Yes - same problem! (I don't expect this to get answered today though, as most folk are at the MoDaCo event in London).
Guest arunhallan Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 its a bit dissappointiing aswel - i was expecting the texts to have my number in it insted of "Planus SMS" and theres no facility to save numbers is there??

Guest asif @ planus Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Hi, Firstly, May I ask where you got the URL from? Secondly, we hadnt planned on releasing the site yet as we have a proper app coming out with the new PC & SPV site on Tuesday. The Online SPV Version does let you choose a name to send the sms message from. Regards Asif
Guest ubergeek Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 I'm the programmer behind the web version of Planus.net, and thought I'd say hi, I've been lurking here for weeks. > The site is a little rushed (in order to be ready for the modaco event) and it's inevitable a few broken links and coding errors creep if. If you notice any, please tell us! Email [email protected] and if you help us resolve it I'll chuck a few free credits your way  > You can set your sender name as anything you like, just delete the "Planus SMS" - would you prefer to have it as your telephone number by default? This can be done - just ask! > Within the next few days we'll release a javascript file to download and run, that will upload your contacts to the Planus server. You'll then be able to access and text your contacts from any computer/phone ;) > The offline app is coming along, and will be ready soon. We may also make our API available so you, the community, can develop your own apps (not just for the smartphone, but any system) - stay tuned for more details. Thanks for being patient, expect big improvements over the coming weeks :( Ben [email protected]
Guest pete1312 Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Thanks for the explanation Ben. It all makes more sense now.
Guest EMGenius Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Cheers for the explanation and the service Ben!! I would just like to ask if anyone knows how big the pages are (in kb) and therefore how much it costs in gprs terms to send a message?? (out of a bundle) Cheers guys,
Guest ubergeek Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Our pleasure ;) The pages (once they've been fed through the top-secret Planus SMS'o'miser - or IIS to the rest of the world  ) work out to be about 1kb each. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Regards, Ben
Guest theodotcom Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 The url was on the letter that came with the voucher, thanks for clearing all that up though, looking forward to the service working, cheers!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 When do you plan to release the native SPV client? It looks awesome! P
Guest ajb3000 Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Hopefully Monday or Tuesday, we just have a couple of bugs to iron out then it should be perfect.
Guest ajb3000 Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 guys, think of this as a public beta, we will be adding features continuously over the coming couple of weeks. i would advise you to save a lot of your credits for when the native program comes out, i think you're gonna like it. the billing system will be implemented soon.
Guest arunhallan Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 i take it all back - the service is quite good
Guest pete1312 Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Please excuse my ignorance, but what does "Native" mean? (I am a totally self-taught computer "newbie" of 20 yrs)
Guest Richie M Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Pete1312 - the "Native" program will be the one that runs on your SPV  should be out Tuesday ;)
Guest spiderboy Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Great Service. I registered and entered voucer number and spent a few on "test sms's" to myself, my one question to you guys is what happes to an SMS when the reciever replies to that SMS?
Guest spiderboy Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 After Playing some more it seems that the best way is to enter your own mobile number in the text box where "Planus SMS" is, it then recocnises your number and the user can send it back to you. Is there a way where our numbers can automatically be sourced and entered from the registration data?
Guest FrankyG Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Treid to text friends in Austrlia, but got an error telling me I don't have enough credits (133 to be precise!) is International txt supported or is this just a bug? tried it a couple of times, same thing. test to myself worked no problem, looking forward to the fully operational version! FrankYG
Guest ubergeek Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 > International texts are supported, but there does seem to be a bug that will be fixed immediately. > In response to user requests we'll make the sender field automatically be your registered telephone number. This has now been changed Keep testing guys! Your suggestions are listened to! Regards, Ben [email protected]
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Its an SMS sending application you can download to your phone, looks amazing  Far more functional than the built in one. Roll on Tuesday ;)
Guest asif @ planus Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Heh, I'm presuming Ada showed some of you the app at the event? Asif
Guest Firaas Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Heh, I'm presuming Ada showed some of you the app at the event? Not me...
Guest ubergeek Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Well you won't have long to wait  (BTW Firaas, I've replied to your email and rectified the problem - cheers for letting us know).
