Guest pteale Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 Does anyone know of any books that deal with Smartphone 2002?
Guest spacemonkey Posted March 6, 2003 Report Posted March 6, 2003 Been asked before, but I think the conclusion was that there isn't really anything in the market yet. I would suggest getting some code and having a play. For books the next best thing is books on Windows CE/Pocket PC programming as there is a LOT that is the same across both platforms. The main difference in Smartphone 2002 is that you are always running full screen and that you don't have a stylus so your GUI and IO assumptions are different. Also, when looking at books, ignore ones that spend lots of time talking about MFC, this is a set of prebuilt dialogues and stuff that exists for Pocket PC but not for Smartphone. Hope that helps
Guest adrianfox Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 For anything to do with windows development of any kind. I still always recomend a read of the bible "Programming Windows" - Charles Petzold, to someone with no prior related experience. Even if the specifics are a bit "dated", the undestanding gained of the fundamentals principles has not been bettered to this day IMO. Of course, one could then fill in the gaps with a CE book.
