Inbox getting cleared out when downloading new emails

Have I missed a setting somewhere ?

My SPV pulls emails down, using GPRS, from my (non-Orange) POP3 account.

But, every time it pulls in new emails the stuff already in the inbox dissappears ? Can't find it in any of the folders.

btw I'm on the latest UK software (1.3.5.6)
