Guest Alisk222 Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 Don't know if this is a bug or just my phone, but the screen says "no service" and I've got the circle with a line through where my reception bars used to be. I've tried switching the phone off and on, this seems to resolve the problem sometimes but not always. I can actually make calls, and I do have the GPRS "G" on my taskbar, so it only appears to be a cosmetic problem (although somewhat annoying!!) Any ideas anyone?
Guest CarlHatton Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 I know it's quite a while since this was posted but i've been noticing a similar problem over the last few weeks. I get 'no service' displayed where the operator logo should be but can still make calls - although when i call my phone from a landline i can hear the ringing tone but the mobile never makes a noise or registers a misssed call!
Guest neilg Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 i think this is a known problem if you are using a non orange SIM on an orange SPV (unlocked or using thwe SWAP trick on earlier software)
Guest mattat Posted March 18, 2003 Report Posted March 18, 2003 Probably isn't much help, but is the clock stopped by any chance? Sometimes I've had the homescreen 'freeze' and not update from when I turn the phone on - thus it doesn't tell me that it has acquired a signal. Might be worth trying changing the homescreen to see if that makes any difference.
Guest CarlHatton Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 I'm using an Orange sim and a standard homepage - i can get to all the menus and stuff. Weird eh? :?
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 Have you tried that SIM in another phone, and that phone on another Orange SIM?
Guest Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Getting the same problem too, hopefully someone can shed some light on this issue.
Guest matth Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I get this all the time. But then I live in THE worst place in the world for signal. The phone is either searching for signal or network denied and then eventually - no service. i usually turn the radio off to save the battery. ta.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Tried the suggestions here? SIM in another phone, cycle radio off/on etc?
Guest Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 The other problem I'm getting is a verrrrrry sloooooow boot-up in the mornings. I get the "Smartphone" screen displayed for a good 2mins, and then homescreen but with "no service". Temperature isn't a problem, I've not touched the SIM since getting the phone, and the phone gets sat in it's cradle almost every evening. Phone is de-certed as well. I'm trying to shut the phone down using the quicklist, it's taken 4mins for the screen to finish displaying, something is very wrong in Northamptonshire... **EDIT** Eventually managed to turn the phone off using quicklist, left it for 30 secs and powered it back up - and I'm back up and running. This process doesn't always work first time though, it's very strange.
