Guest Zorglub Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 I need to hard reset my Tanager before I send it back. I have powered it on while pressing the voice button and got a "Card Found" message, then I was told to press a key to continue. Now I am on a screen that has reg, green and blue colors and it says "Serial" above the left menu button but phone seems to be hung, keys dont do anything. Any ideas on how I can fully reset the phone? TIA
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 You probably didn't press that action key fast enough to get to the menu from which you can erase IPSM (hard reset). If you miss that key, you default to the screen you describe. Getting out of that screen *can* require removal of the battery...
Guest Zorglub Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 So when do I have to press the key? and which key is it? I've tried several times turing the phone on and right away pressing a key but then I get taken right away into the RGB screen.

Guest Syvwlch Posted March 7, 2003 Report Posted March 7, 2003 Zorglub, Sorry for the confusion, I'd not done this since updating, and it's slightly different... Anyway, here goes : when you power up with the record and power button, you get the card found screen. As soon as it goes to the next one (asking for any key), hell, while it's changing, you need to hit that action button (little clear plastic nub in the middle of the joypad) and HOLD it down until you go to the menu with erase IPSM. Have faith, I've just done it, it works.

Now I must give it back :-( It's a nice device although I admit that my P800 will keep me great company - even though it is a bit bigger (and no, it is not a brick, the only people that says this are the ones who havent tried it), it has great battery life, awesome email client (several inboxes, fully configurable even with smtp authentication), awesone web browser (Opera) and the fact that it has a touch screen makes it much easier to surf the web, write emails, etc. BUt dont get me wrong, Smartphone also has a lot going for it.
