Guest arunhallan Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 and was it hard? And whats the likelyhood of messin it up if u do? Assuming u do it like this guide: http://www.coolsmartphone.com/custom.htm
Guest Carnivor Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Ive taken mine apart, to clean the screen, wasn't to bad, although its fairly hard work not to damage the cover, its made of a soft plastic which easily dents, I found a round ended knive the easiest. but once off there is only 1 screw which holds the PCB onto the casing.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Bear in mind, although the silver part appears to com off first, its actually the back part  You need to remove the rubber sliver under the battery and unclip the silver part, then just slide your finger/thumbnail under the back part all the way round. Simple ;)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 http://malvern.hamlesh.com:9091/spvpics (/spvpics56k if you're on a slow connection). For pics of the SPV being taken apart...
Guest Hanukkah Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 I'll probably do this not to paint the casing, but to change the dual leds to 2 0603 leds. The color would probably be violet for standy flashing and red for low batt indicator. Probably also change the g keypad leds to lavander or bright white.
Guest James Posted August 28, 2003 Report Posted August 28, 2003 good luck mate, make sure you post your results!
Guest lucky Posted August 29, 2003 Report Posted August 29, 2003 WARNING !! DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TOUCH THE LCD PANEL. it has a polarised coating on a corrugated panel. if any grease comes in contact with the display it is history. if you are trying to remove dust use a camera cleaning puffer brush. how do i know? A repair by hayes came back with a droplet on the screen that was causing a black dot about 2mm across. I thought i could get it off with a cotton bud. FALSE so no more SPV for me
Guest moomoomoo Posted August 29, 2003 Report Posted August 29, 2003 Roger what lucky says, my screen is buggered now. Even touching it with your finger could cause damage, so avoid it at all costs. Before you go changing the LEDs, consider this question - what's better, nice LEDs and the possiblity of fecking something up, or a phone with a dent-less case which actually works, however boring the LEDs are? :)
Guest PritenC Posted August 31, 2003 Report Posted August 31, 2003 Well then I consider myself lucky cos i accidentally touched the screen and now theres a thumb print right on the screen, but it still works, just show a grey thumb print when you look at it from a certain angle
