Guest jim80b Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 i get a huge slowdown in playing divx's after installing the 2 sppedup tweeks from midnight. (they speed up the phone but divx is dire mate) does anyone else have this problem and if so how did they fix it. have uninstalled them and phones slow again
Guest neilfenstein Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Must say that there is no difference for me. But, I have only watched episodes of Southpark since installing the tweaks. Try tidying up with task manager before running Pocket MVP. I try to keep my memory over half empty got all ring tones etc on SD card so it might be something to think about! When you said both tweaks did you install the animation tweak. I dont have that i have speedboost and speedymenus, animation is supposed to slow the phone up slightly  Hope that this is helpful!!!!
Guest midnight Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 no difference for me either and as for animated windows slowing down the phone, it only slows the opeining and closing of apps, shouldnt affect the speed of the apps i agree, check for apps running in the background with task manager (or try running a divx straight after a reset)
Guest midnight Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 shouldnt do either, one speed tweak just removes the menu animation (thus making it quicker) and the other is just a larger cache, and wont affect pocketmvp in the slightest (or shouldnt at least )
Guest jim80b Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 thanks every1. trying after a reboot. all apps on phone and taskman says nothing running. is every1 here running smartface? just a thought as whocall was fine and thats the only other thing i have changed
Guest neilfenstein Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Yeah, running smartface! I've got it in my start up folder so it is always runnig even after reboot. MVP still running fine tho! :?
Guest ClintEastman Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Actually I did a LOT of testing on this when I first put the tweak (Cache size only) on my phone. And it does make a difference!!! I am not saying it’s the play itself, but seems to be background tasks. I started to encode at 130KB/s (not the 120KB/s) and it would run fine, part of the time. So I started to retest the 120KB/s and that ran better under high load, but part of the time (only a small part of the time) it ran like s***! Make of that what you will, and that’s just on my phone so it could be just me, but I have played around with this stuff SO MUCH now that I can pick up on the smallest changes!!!
Guest midnight Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 well, the speed tweak does use slightly more ram, but i wouldnt have thought it enough to affect pocketmvp (and like i said, mine runs fine), so i suppose it depends on things like what home screen you are running etc. but really, i have had no problems with divx's (and i've done a hell of a lot of divx's aswell, even tho i do prefer wmv, and even better 'theora', shame that windows media player is so crappy that it cant play back files back fast enough, or fullscreen:wink:)
Guest jim80b Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 ok so far it works well again... i am a fan of mvp for videos myself i use richies longhorn theme, the talking keypad (before you cab'd it) 2 speed tweeks, smartface and everything including mail is on the card. its ok at the mo.. i reckon it was that 1 in a million time that eastman was talking about... hope it doesnt happen again. wish there was a way of saving the t9 extra words as thats the only thing i lose in a reboot
Guest Richie M Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 J - i have problems sometimes it could be cos the Longhorn theme is so big but don't worry the version i'm working on looks better and will be smaller  (having said that i rebooted my phone and it ran perfectly ;) even tho TaskManager said nothing was running :?)
Guest midnight Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 erm, reboot or hard reset????? cos t9 should be fine after a reboot
Guest Richie M Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 cos t9 should be fine after a reboot I always seem to lose my t9 after a reboot (power-cycle) (call.gif working now m8  dunno why tho )
Guest midnight Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 hehe, weird, my t9 is always intact after a soft reset reboot. In fact, that was supposed to be one of the fixes in the first UK update.
