Guest Crispy Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 I know there is lovely GNUboy that alows you to emulate Gameboy and Gameboy Color roms, but will there also be added support for Advence roms? I could Imagine that 133mhz isen't enough to emulate the gameboy advance and that the screen is to small. Anyway know this for sure?
Guest Coolboy1982 Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 spacemonkey tried to port a gba emulator, but it did not work! yes it is too slow (processor only runs at 80-90 ish MhZ as well all though it is a 133 Processor) The screen would be big enough, but it is just not working! You'll have to stick to Gameboy (Color) and NES and at the moment it looks like the SNES emulator is getting better and better! I am personally still hoping that besides theses projects (all by spacemonkey), someone will port a sega gamegear emulator...
Guest Crispy Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 ... yes it is too slow (processor only runs at 80-90 ish MhZ as well all though it is a 133 Processor)... That leads me to another question (which proberly has been asked 9999 times before) ... any good overclocking utils for the SPV out there (if any at all)?
Guest Emad Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Nope. Well, not at the moment anyway.. You could possibly make a gameboy advance emulator using assembler I think along with a similar sort of approach as phoenix gameboy emulator on Palm OS as they both have an ARM architecture. However, that would require a hefty amount of work..
Guest Crispy Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 ... You could possibly make a gameboy advance emulator using assembler ... So you're saying that there are a posibility that it could be made ... how nice
Guest Emad Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Well, there's one for the GP32 console which has a similar architecture to the SPV (but is clocked at the proper speed) - but it would require a LOT of work. I think the point about the screen is also valid - a gamegear would be the next logical system..
Guest rocknsock2k Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 All i can say is the more emulators the better:) just find a way to keep the processor from running so damn slow:(
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 btw: The processor is clocked correctly. Apparently the SPV is effectively dual processor, an 84mhz cpu for the GMS side of operations and a 132mhz cpu for everything else..
