Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Hmm. Yesterday I hard-reset my SPV, had to because I dropped it and then it wouldn't write text *at all*. Well, the T9 hasn't worked for ages, so I guessed the hard reset would clear this prob. too (every cloud....), but the T9 still won't learn words. Does anyone have a clue why this might be? It's *really* beginning to annoy me....
Guest midnight Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 it doesnt remember words even if you take t9 off? the phone remembers and words that you create when you turn off t9, write the word, then tunr the t9 back on again, or at least, it should
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Nope, that's exactly the problem. It's been this way for a while now. Was ok after installing DKupdate2 for..erm..a week, then it stopped learning words. A hard reset should have solved it (shouldn't it?)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Mine still randomly forgets its dictionary (the number of times i have to program  back in :/). It does remember words put in through t9. Unless...it only remembers words put in in chunks through t9 until it reboots... hmm
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 It's hopeless, mine won't remember *anything*, no matter when and how it's typed in. bugger.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Just trying some tests now, and of course its working perfectly, words entered through t9 and multitap. Guess i'll just have to try and pay more attention to what i do before it resets again :/
Guest caio1 Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 I noticed a bad behaviour.... it remembers also the numbers!! Now when I cycle 2-letters word I always find a number... like in "TO" i find also 86... I find it unuseful and pretty uncomfortable. Caio

Multitap is beginning to get right on my nerves. I swear a lot, which doesn't help matters
Guest midnight Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 another app for some abitious programmer perhaps? a t9 dictionary editor where you can add and remove words
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Already been done...kinda http://www.ppcw.net/index.php?itemid=1169 www.handango.com
Guest caio1 Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Monolithix: I think you're a bit tired... midnight meant an application to edit the word added to the t9 dictionary, not to change t9 language... Take a break 8) Caio
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Should an app would ROCK! I put in words in my 'pre-text-lines' that my phone keeps forgetting in the TP mode. But it would be everso cool if you could add words through a lil proggy!
Guest midnight Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 in theory should be real easy to do, just a matter of adding and removing items in the t9 database
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 I did say kinda... ;p nm sorry. Btw: apparently the t9 db's are just .udb's...
Guest wil2k1 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Being right handed, does anyone else find the # sign as the space in the T9 dictionary annoying? I'm starting to get thumb cramps w/ this thing....
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Oi! You lot! bugger off out my thread  doh, some people, weren't the same when I were a lad, T9 always worked, things was cheaper then..... Seriously, does *anyone* have a clue what I should do about this T9 prob?
Guest Richie M Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Chris, unfortunately it looks like your the only one with this prob  As you have hard-reset and it hasent worked how about trying the Update again? :? Only thing i can think of apart from getting Orange to replace your phone
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Hasn't that already happened?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 My t9 died yesterday. I didnt do anything, no reboot, no new software, nothing. I sent a text and it was fine, came back a little later, having not touched my phone since (no even plugged it into the cradle) to reply and it had died :/ Maybe a 5-day life to the t9 dictionary?
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 As you have hard-reset and it hasent worked how about trying the Update again? :?Unfortunately, it's beginning to look like this'll be the only way out :) Only thing i can think of apart from getting Orange to replace your phone  Heh heh - thís is Orange DK we're talking about; no Orange Care over here. I don't think I fancy using a 3210 for weeks ;)

I sent a text and it was fine, came back a little later, having not touched my phone since (no even plugged it into the cradle) to reply and it had died :/Seems to be me and you with the big T9-probs then (as usual  ) Maybe a 5-day life to the t9 dictionary? I'm beginning to wonder.....
Guest cocobrownskin Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003   :x  :x   Man i thought i was the only one with that problem. My t9 doesnt even spell the word s*** so i have to take it off and type it in manually then reactivate t9, GAYNESS!
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 So I'm not alone ;) Looks like I'm going to have to reinstall the latest update, as another hard reset has helped nowt. Curses.
Guest vfbforever Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Hi! I use T9 in danish. It can save a limited amount og words i guess. When i have "saved" a number of words it starts to overwrite the first word i saved. Does not know if this is the case exactly but it is my theory. :? Afterall the phone can spell the word for while but after some time it "forgets"... I use the *-button to switch to multitapping. I would like to know how many words T9 can learn if anyone know, and if the words are limited. Best regards, VFBforever
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 VFB: your problem's a little different to mine, but it's just another illustration that the SPV's T9 isn't as sorted as it should be.
