I know this has been covered, but I can't for the life of me find the thread! I want to set up my notepad program to open txt files, just by pressing the file itself.

Does anyone know how to do this? Or can someone direct me to the thread! Thx a lot...

Look at www.handango.com for NotBad, nice little text editor and only $6.

Theres also the Orneta one, available for download from my website.

I have the Orneta program, and I luff it. I was thinking of something else, the files I create in Orneta are txt files. I want Orneta to start up when I 'double-click' a txt file on my phone.

I know it can be done, someone already mentioned how it was done, I just can't find the 'guide'.

Just let me check the registry.

Should be there like in windows for desktops

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT -> txtfile -> Shell -> Open -> Command (open by clicking action key) -> Values

Change the default value data by writing the path to your notepad instead of iexplore.exe

I don't know if it will keep the modification after a phone reboot...try it!

A great, that's what I was looking for! I'll test it and let ya know.

Hmmm actually I can't find it .. when I go to txtfile .. there is no shell .. only the values key .. and in Default in values .. I can't seem to change anything to Orneta... *boggle*

If you installed it on the phone then you shoud write this value data:

"IPSMWindowsStart MenuAccessoriesOrnetaNotepad.exe" %1

Remember to write the quotes!!!

I know I'm really dense, but when I go here:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT // .txt //

I don't see anything .. I can only choose the Values key!

When I press that I see "Content Type" and "Default" .. do I add the path in either of these?

there's no dot before txtfile... so go to "txtfile"...

Found it .. changed it .. and what do you know .. it survives a 'turn phone off .. turn phone on'

So I'm a happy duck, and have yet another few things to customize in my phone!

I do have to save my Notepad files at something.txt (with the extension .txt) .. otherwise it doesn't work... - maybe there is a setting in Orneta to do that by itself *shrug*

I'll have to look into that, or suggest they add it *heeh*
