Guest Katie Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Hi folks. New to this forum and relatively new to my SPV. A friend sent me an MMS from his phone. It's a Nokia, and the one that I _almost_ bought instead of my SPV - you know, the one that looks like a PDA. Anyway, when I select the message, it says "Downloading message" and then after approx 30 seconds, times out and says "Download failed". Not sure what network he's on, if this makes any difference. Just wondered if anyone could shed any light on the matter? Cheersta, Katie
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Well here in Denmark I can only send MMS to other Orange users! People from other companies cannot receive from me .. They say it's due to the fact, that they cannot decide the price of it, so right now you can send MMS for free other other Orange users! Don't know if that's the same where you live.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Theres still a lot of teething problems with x-net MMS in the UK. The only reliable connection is O2...

Cheersta, Katie Welcome to the site  I presume you mean the Nokia 7650 this in the past has been known to be a problem ;) but I did think it had been resolved
Guest Katie Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Sounds like it's not a localised case, which is a start. Would it help to phone Orange and ask? Oh, and great site, btw.
Guest James Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Welcome to the site Katie, the guys here generally know more (more SPV anyhow) than the orange operators. It seems to be very hard to get any kind of answers out of them for the SPV.
Guest Katie Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Cheers James, What's strange is that he can view mine no problem. He's just come back to me and told me that yes, he has the 7650, and is on Vodafone. Perhaps we're trying to run before we can walk here, but it does seem like a pretty basic thing to be able to do. :? However, it's the tiniest bug-bear compared to what the phone _does_ do. After being so utterly disappointed with WAP on my Nokia 7110 back in 2000, I decided not to bother with it again until something really worthwhile came onto the market, and this is the first phone I have bought since my 7110. I'm impressed that I can do my online banking _on-the-move_. Anyway, thanks for the feedback, everyone. I'll certainly be sticking around to join in the fun. Katie
Guest James Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 i can get MMS from vodafone users yet either!
Guest amo Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Theres no link between orange, o2, and tmobile with voda yet. MMS between orange, o2, and tmobile should work fine.
Guest SPV is crap Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Theres no link between orange, o2, and tmobile with voda yet. MMS between orange, o2, and tmobile should work fine. Orange have now have agreements with O2, T-MOB & VODA so cross-network mms should be no problem. However, there is a major problem with receiving from Voda. Dont know what it is exactly but doesnt hapen with the other networks, so maybe something on vodaphones part.
