Guest SEM Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I have noticed that there are indication on the phone that would assume that voice activated dialing is possible. Does anyone know how to get it to work? Thanks.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 There is no Voice dialing at the moment :) It was not released with the final version of the phone.
Guest Vector Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 Is it possible to make an app for it? Sure i read that someone was making one
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 You need to have a VR engine running on the phone. I know of at least one that has been ported by a commercial firm, and runs in the lab. I *think* it is under appraisal, and it is up to Orange to decide if they wish to release it. Might be a software upgrade package we'd have to buy, but that would be bundled with later versions (like ViaVoice on Ipaqs).
Guest NederSoren Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 I think that i have read somewhere that the OS can do it, but Orange have made the SPV so it aint possible... Well i hope they change it in a update :)
Guest Vector Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 heres to hoping. . Well it is O were talking about :?
Guest tkhong Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Here at Fonix we have a speaker independent (no training, or voice tags) version of our VoiceDial running. In fact we won an award from Microsoft in the US for it last week at Microsoft Mobility 2003. We are finishing up the certification stuff this week and should have a version available to purchase in 2-3 weeks.... If you are really nice we might have a beta version you can test..... Tim Hong
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Wow! How nice do you want us to be ? :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 nice :) now you're going to have loads of emails asking to beta test for you. So I'll ask now ;) PS any idea on cost when you do finaly release it?
Guest Hax Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Sounds great - how do *you* define nice then? Pretty please.... can I beta test it for you? Promise not to break it :) Also buy it from you when you release it.... grovel, grovel, grovel....... Hax
Guest yatpeak Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Certainly sounds useful! Does it need to be certified by Orange to be connected to the radio functions? Thanks, Wyatt
Guest abamara Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Yeah, I can do nice too. :) And if you are certifying it means it can work on a undecerted phone, yes? Can't wait tho! The coolness level of the phone is about to increase again! Dramatically! 8)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Speaker independent? How does that work then :) Just yell specific commands at it (letter by letter like the t9 contract search maybe? I'm up for a play...
Guest abamara Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Probably means that at the spv meet if you give a command to "call Paul" all the other phones nearby will be dialling Paul together! :)
Guest madu Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 WOW!! Sounds great!! PS: Yes, I am nice!
Guest tkhong Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Looks like there is lots of interest here in VoiceDial..... If you are interested in being a beta tester for us, please send me a private message with a little bit about yourself and if you need cert or can use a version that is not yet certified.... Also, we have English, German, French, and Spanish. How it works.... It is speaker independent, no training required, no more voice tags. You pick up the device, push a button and say: Call Tim Hong mobile (name of contact and home, work, or mobile) You can also say, "Dial a number" then say the numbers you want to call. Anyone else can also use the device, you can use it with the headset, you can even use it with a bluetooth headset... The program itself is less than 600k and can run off the device or the SD card. Last week we won best Utility app for Smartphone at the Microsoft Developers Conference in the US... We have not set a final price yet, but it is likely going to be $19.95US. Feel free to ask me any other questions in a private message. I need your email address so I can send you the bits... Thanks Tim Hong Director of Marketing Fonix
