Headset silver button... can it be used in an application?

The silver button on the headset seems to be configured to answer calls by default.

Is there a way to read when this button is pressed from within my own application so I can make use of it?

I just tested this with the keytest program that comes with the SDK, and it doesn't register the button, so it seems not :)

it's a shame, coz I thought the headphone button would've been great as a trigger button to take a photo with the camera

Yep - I'd tried that as well and it seems that none of the buttons on the side of the phone are registered either. It looks like we're limited to the buttons on the face of the phone - a pity indeed since they are rather fiddly to use, especially when on the move!

The volume and record buttons on the side work fine - Spacemonkey uses those in Gnuboy

I don't know if you can override the power button too, but it probably wouldn't be a good idea anyway
