I believe that T-mobile are using port 8080 for WAP 2.0 phones so that could have been worth trying.

While searching for information on the above I found this setup from expansys Tech support forum :D http://www.expansys.com/forumthread.asp?co...08953&thread=16

Thanks to matt33157 (whoever he is) ;)/

Ok, after a large amount of experimentation on my part, here are the MMS settings that WORK 100% with T-Mobile in the US on the I-Mate Smartphone 2:

PREREQUISITES:

1) You MUST have T-Zones service on your T-Mobile USA account (I tried it without - and the free one doesn't work. You get what you pay for, so if you want it, shell out $6 a month and don't be a tightwad.

2) You MUST log into the T-Mobile website with your mobile number/username and password that you created (or you must create one). Once in the website, go into the 'My Phone' link under 'Manage My Account'. Once there, YOU MUST change your phone type to a T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition by choosing 'Show All Devices' and then choosing the Pocket PC Phone Edition and then once it shows as the icon under 'My Phone' make sure that you actually log out (don't just close the browser window or it won't save your changes). This apparently was the step I was missing - it worked like a charm after I did this.

INSTRUCTIONS

1) Create a new GPRS connection under 'Start/Settings/More/Data Connections/Menu/Edit Connections/GPRS Connections' called T-Mobile WAP. Choose WAP Network for 'Connects to:', wap.voicestream.com as the access point and click 'Done' - leave the rest blank.

2) Start up the MMS program 'Start/More/MMS' and go into the Settings icon (Highlight it and press down on the toggle to enter it).

3) Click the Edit button to edit the default server entry there.

4) Choose a name for the server (I called mine T-Mobile MMS) and toggle down to the next field (MMSC URL).

5) Under MMSC URL, type the following: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms and then toggle down to the next field (WAP Gateway).

6) Enter 216.155.165.50 as the WAP Gateway and then click 'Done'.

7) Now go back into 'Start/Settings/More/Data Connections', toggle down to WAP Connection and choose 'T-Mobile WAP' from #1 above and then click done.

8) Power off the phone, power it back on and you are good to go to send MMS messages. I would suggest sending one to YOUR OWN mobile number first if you have never sent anything. If you haven't ever sent anything, you aren't registered with the MMS server, so sending something to yourself is an easy way to activate the MMS feature.

I deviated from these steps in about thirty different ways this weekend (and reset my phone that many times as well). After all that, this is EXACTLY what worked for me.

The Orange WAP site doesn't work (well, not the site itself)

When connecting using CSD WAP, I can't go on the Orange World site and many other sitesdon't work either, however many sites do work.  I've tested the wsp://google.com and it works.

I think it's some sort of conflict with the http:// and wsp:// because I know using GPRS, the Orange home starts with http:// and it works, but when using dialup, the whole thing doesn't work (it says connecting... for a while, then the title bar is Untitled but there's nothing on the page itself).

Any ideas on what to do/what's wrong?

Thankyou.

Help please Mr. Martin!

Try changing the proxy.

Connects from: The Internet

Connects to: WAP Network

Proxy: 192.168.71.35:8080

Type: HTTP

WAP connection = Orange CSD WAP

Internet Explorer: Untick auto detect and make 'Select network: Wap network'.

Remember that the GSM WAP dialup is a slower connection and, unlike GPRS, the clock is ticking

I put the sim in my other phone (siemenss56) and it works . I assume this is the right info but can somebody give me a bit more set by step on how to input the correct info? Thanks

Ok here is what I got and I made it as simple as possible for the future for anyone that will have a PSV e200 running windows mobile 2003. The menu numbering on this document is what it is for me when the phone came out of the box. So if it is diffrent on yours than maybe it was changed by you or the provider. I want to thank martin on this thread for posting the link that gave me the final clue on what I was missing when I was talking to tier 3 wdg @ Tmobile. I am now able to MMS which will not really be used at all but I had to have everything working on this phone since I am paying for that service.

Try this and let us know if you have any problems :D

In Internet Explorer, goto Menu-Options-Connections and tick 'Automatically detect settings'

(Note: you may have to specifically request GPRS Internet access from TMN)

I am looking for some seriously quick and positive answers before I throw my phone at the wall and move onto a newer phone with support.

I posted here and have drawn a blank response.

My OS is Qtek 7070, I have a Vodafone Contract with CPW who are plain crap at support.

I used Martin's Contract settings in this thread and everything works fine EXCEPT MMS. I am signed upto GPRS, MMS is enabled at Vodafone, I have a G on my phone but when it tries to send a simple MMS message to me it connects up ok, attempts to send MMS, hangs for a minute, then fails.

HAS ANYONE GOT MMS WORKING USING MARTIN'S SETTINGS FOR VODAFONE CONTRACT???

CPW tell me that they cannot tell me how to setup my phone - they would simply refer me to Orange!!

I know you are all busy people but I need your help with this please.

Thanks

George

Start be deleting ALL existing dialup, proxy and GPRS connections as this will clear the registry data.

Then try the following setup and let us know how you get on.

Start-Settings-Data Connections

Menu-Edit Connections

Create GPRS internet connection

Description: O2 Internet

Connects to: The Internet

Access Point: mobile.o2.co.uk

User: o2web

Password : password

Primary DNS: 193.113.200.200

Secondary DNS: 193.113.200.201

In data connections

Internet connection: O2 Internet

In Internet Explorer - Menu-option, Connections

Untick 'Automatically detect settings'and make 'Select Network: The Internet'

Load internet Explorer and try to connect to www.google.com

If you are unable to connect then O2 have probably not activated the GPRS Internet service on your account.

Next try and setup the GPRS WAP + proxy connection.

Start-Settings-Data Connections

Menu-Edit Connections

Create proxy connection

Description: O2 proxy

Connects from: The Internet

Connects to: WAP network

Proxy (name:port): 193.113.200.195:8080

Type: HTTP

Username: blank

Password: blank

Create GPRS connection

Description: O2 GPRS WAP

Connects to: The Internet

Access Point: wap.o2.co.uk

Username : o2wap

Password : password

Primary DNS:

Secondary DNS:

IP Address:

In data connections

WAP connection: O2 GPRS WAP

In Internet Explorer - Menu-option, Connections

Untick 'Automatically detect settings'and make 'Select Network: WAP network'

You should now be able to access www.google.com via the WAP connection.

If you want to access WML pages like http://wap.02.co.uk then change the proxy to 193.113.211.195:9201, Type=WAP

For MMS the setup depends on what type of phone you have.

Unfortunately the O2 MMS only works for sending as there is problem with receiving MMS on the smartphone via the O2 network.

Guest woffle99

Hi,

Hope someone can help - this looks like the place for it :D

I've just got hold of an unlocked orginal SPV, which I've put my T-Mobile sim in (I'm in the UK).

No matter what I do, I cannot get the internet working through GPRS. I've used GPRS successfully on my old T68i with the same sim, and the G is there on the SPV display all the time so I know it works with my account.

I have tried the settings that were given to me by T-mobile over the phone (which they said they could give me but they couldn't support the SPV if I had any problems, for obvious reasons) and I've seen the same settings reproduced here:

Name: T-Mobile GPRS

APN: general.t-mobile.uk

userid: user

password: one2one (i've also seen wap as the password, but then again I've tried it on the old T68i and it connects with anything in the userid or password fields, or even blank)

IP: 149.254.001.010

Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 (i've even tried deleting this but it always comes back as 0.0.0.0)

Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

I've set this as both the connection for 'Internet Connection' and 'WAP Connection' and then tried both 'The Internet' or 'Wap Network' in the IE options (and tried both with 'Automatically detect settings' ticked and unticked) but no joy - the little G flashes in the top right corner where the signal strength indicator is a couple of times and then I get the message 'Error - Unable to place call' each time.

T-Mobile did mention some other settings but I cannot find options for them anywhere so I assume the SPV auto-senses or something:

Authentication: Normal

Connection Security: off

Sessionmode: Permanent

Prompt for Password: No

Response time: 150 seconds

Oh, and FYI I've managed to connect via CSD/GSM - its just GPRS thats doing my head in.

If anyone can help then I'd be eternally grateful. Has anyone managed to get GPRS working on T-mobile with an SPV?

Thanks,

Mark

Welcome Mark

It sounds like you're almost there.

Try deleting all existing data and then re-entering the settings on page 9 of this thread. It's the same setup for contract and prepay :D

Note the IP address field in the GPRS connection data must be blank.

Martin,

Very many thanks for the amazingly speedy solution.

Thanks also for not being harsh about the fact that the solution was already in the thread somewhere and I should have spotted it myself  . I'd seen a post with some of the settings for T-Mobile at the start of the thread but must have missed the one on page 9 as I sped through looking for a solution.

I hope you get a nice warm glow from knowing that you're helping out a lot of people here :D

One other quick question as I imagine you know this - when T-mobile say that the GPRS cost is 0.75p per KB does that mean just for downloaded info or do they also charge for uploads too?

Thanks again,

Mark

Please forgive a grumpy old man: I am almost there now using your

Vodafone UK Contract settings. I can surf, get emails but still cannot send to me an MMS message even though I am setup on Vodafone. I connect, it tries to send - seems to send very quickly then fails.

Below is your settings:

MMS settings

Create GPRS connection

Description : Vodafone MMS

Connects to : MMS connection

Access point: wap.vodafone.co.uk

User name: wap

Paswword: wap

Programs - Accessories - MMS setup

First field: Vodafone MMS

IP: 212.183.137.012

Port: 9201

Mmsc Address: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms

Other Vodafone settings for WAP/MMS

APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk

User name: [email protected]

Password: user

I have done all this EXCEPT where do I set the last bit - Other Vodafone settings for WAP/MMS

also are names you call the settings significant or capitals significant??

thanks

settings on page 16 for O2 contract postedby Marting work

but the only thing is that in Internet Explorer you have to choose network Manually, Either The Internet or Wap Network.......

havent found a way around that but shouldn't be a big problem I would expect.....

Martin,

do you know where I configure the MMS stuff and how?

Have you checked with Vodafone CS that MMS is enabled on your account ? This is often the problem.

Oh and it doesn't really matter if it's upper or lower case in the description. It can be anything :D

The other settings is just an alternative username and password that may not be relevent.

OK what to do

Test the WAP APN:

1 Make sure you have the GPRS connection is created with APN wap.vodafone.co.uk and that it's selected for the WAP connection.

2 Make sure the proxy connection is correct.

3 In IE unick auto detect settings and make Select network=WAP network

Try and connect to www.google.com/wml

Tell me if it loads the google page and also whether the small G is maintained.
