1 Make sure you have the GPRS connection is created with APN wap.o2.co.uk and that it's selected for the WAP connection.

2 Make sure the proxy connection is correct.

IE tries to find the page then says this page cannot be found

for 1 I assumed you were talking about the very first of your GPRS settings which WAS set to Connects to Internet with Access Point set to Internet. I have left user and password as web and web

2 The Proxy connection remains unchanged

Connects from The Internet

Connects to WAP Network

Unchecked IE as instructed

Small question though - the Data Connections has a setting WAP connection which uses vodafone wap - is that ok or unimportant

It was the Vodafone WAP (APN wap.vodafone.co.uk) + proxy settings that we were checking but from what you say its OK. MMS also uses this APN so it's a way of testing the connection. I'm not sure why you got the page not found for google WAP though.

Try deleting all existing dialup, GPRS and proxy connections. Re-create only the GPRS connection for MMS (with connects to MMS) and then enter the MMS setup again.

You dont need anything else created at this moment just that single GPRS connection and the MMS setup data.

Try sending an MMS again. It should go connecting-connected-sending. If it fails tell me where it got to.

A good idea to eliminate all other settings and focus on MMS. Sorry I missed you last night, too knackered had to go to bed.

Anyway I deleted all settings which I could ie GPRS, dialup, Proxy, checked nothing set for VPN

then

Create GPRS connection

Description : Vodafone MMS

Connects to : MMS connection

Access point: wap.vodafone.co.uk

User name: wap

Paswword: wap

** Note ** the DNS settings used to be 0.0.0.0 but this time I left these blank. Went back to check and it had filled them with 0.0.0.0

Programs - Accessories - MMS setup

** Note ** This setting you cannot delete I simply checked that it was correct.

First field: Vodafone MMS

IP: 212.183.137.012

Port: 9201

Mmsc Address: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms

Just to check I am NOT doing something which is basically wrong

Went Programs | Inbox | New | MMS | Edit | Background Color | Selected red | Menu | Send Message | Add To: (me) | Menu | Send Message |

Phone said, connecting GPRS | Connected | Sending time bar went all the way across

then Send error

alert

Failed to send message! Message was moved to Draft folder

Any ideas ????

Thanks very much for your help so far - I do hope we (you) cab crack this!!

All,

I have used Martin's settings (thanks mate) for MMS and they work fine with one exception. This post is for you if you are tripping up over this one MMS problem. I posted this to Martin earlier today:

Martin

I am amazed !!!

I was playing around with my phone wishing MMS worked, when I tried to send one more message. This time I decided to send a picture already in the phone.

Guess what? yup, it worked perfectly.

My tests had been in setting a background colour and trying to send that: I have since successfully managed to send pictures, pictures Ive drawn on the phone, text, big text, sound, everything EXCEPT a different colour background!!

No big deal, I can live with that.

Hurray!! Thanks for all your help. I'm reposting this in the settings forum just in case someone else has similar problems.

George

Here's one to tickle those tastebuds. I have managed to convert most of the office over to windows smartphone and one of the guys has taken up 3's offer for all the free minutes. He has got rid of his A835 and got himself an original SPV. I unlocked it for him and in the meanwhile lent him my E100. He could receive text messages on mine but not send (guessed that was because mine was still set up for orange). Unlocked his for him and it appears as an O2 network selection. (understandable as for 2G Three use O2). However he cannot receive or send sms messages (not even tried GPRS or WAP yet, though the G appears along with a triangle next to it?????). He managed to get the message centre number and I've put this into the phone but when it updates the network, it just disappears. And then when you try to send an SMS then it comes up with Send/Receive error. Your sim card is invalid please contact customer services and get a new one!!

Has anybody any ideas / how to setup an SPV for GPRS/WAP/SMS?

Cheers

I cannot view wap pages on my Qtek 8080 and TIM GREECE. Html browsing and mms are ok. So far, i made two GPRS Connections:

TIM GPRS:

Description: TIM GPRS

Connects to: The Internet

Access point: gint.b-online.gr

User name: wap

Password: wap

TIM MMS:

Description: TIM MMS

Connects to: Secure WAP Network

Access point: mnet.b-online.gr

MMS settings:

MMSC settings: TIM MMS

Name: TIM MMS

MMSC URL : http://mms/

WAP Gateway: 192.168.200.11

On Data COnnections:

Intenet Connection: TIM GPRS

Secure Wap Connection: TIM MMS

On Internet Explorer:

auto detect settings is ticked.

What else do i need for browsing wap sites?

Hi HuskerDu

You should be able to access WAP sites directly with the Internet connection but some WAP sites might only work via a WAP proxy server.

Go HERE and enter both the GPRS WAP settings and proxy connection. You've already used the name TIM GPRS so call it TIM WAP instead.

In IE with 'auto detect settings' ticked you should be able to access WAP sites using wsp://(address) but I prefer unticking 'auto detect' and making 'Select network: WAP network' to force the WAP connection.

You could also try using proxy port 9401 if you have any problems.

Hope it works for you :D

Yeahh, it"s working, 10 million thanks!...but i made only a new proxy connection with the settings from the link you gave me. Then, in Data Connections i set -WAP Connection: TIM GPRS, restart the phone and it"s done :D

So, is a new GPRS connection really needed? (I mean the one with the wap APN gwap.b-online.gr)

So, is a new GPRS connection really needed? (I mean the one with the wap APN gwap.b-online.gr)

It depends

Tim refer to the following as WAP,GPRS and Mobile Internet

WAP over GSM is simply called WAP (dialup +306935601271)

WAP over GPRS is simply called GPRS (APN gwap.b-online.gr)

Internet over GPRS is called Mobile Internet (APN gint.b-online.gr)

Note: WAP and Internet refer to applications. GSM and GPRS refer to data connections.

I sounds like you have access to all three but each will have their own subcription and data charges. It's worth finding out if there is any difference in the data transfer charges between the GPRS and Mobile Internet services unless of course you have unlimited data on Mobile Internet.

U r right, WAP over GPRS is provided to subscribers with prepaid cards and it"s more expensive.

Thanks again for the thorough analysis :D
