Hi Martin, you really have helped so many people with your knowledge of gprs/wap/mms settings, I hope you can help me too.

I have a moto mpx200 and live in Guernsey Channel Islands. We're on C&W Guernsey network here but the support is crap for the technical stuff. I know my connection is able to access wap gprs because I have amoto v525 that works fine!

I'm trying to set up my gprs, wap and mms. here are the settings I've accumulated but where do I put them?

for wap:

wap name: lifestyle

gateway ip: 010.000.003.101

apn: mobilefunemail

For mms:

apn: mms

server name: mmsc.gprs.cw.com/

web session name: mms

These settings are apparently for a V600 but how do I transpose this to my MPx?

Hope you can help

Thanks in advance

Hi jwb

Yep, your phone should work OK but a lot depends on the networks GPRS service.

Try the following and let us know how you get on.

Note: It might be worth deleting all your existing dialup, proxy and GPRS connections first.

Programs Settings-Data Connections

Menu - Edit connections - GPRS connections

Menu - Add

Create proxy connection

Description: proxy

Connects from: The Internet

Connects to: WAP network

Proxy (name:port): 010.000.003.101

Type: WAP

Username: blank

Password: blank

Create GPRS connection.

Description: lifestyle

Connects to: The Internet

Access point: mobilefunemail

User name:

Password:

Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0

Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

IP address:

In data connections make both 'Internet connection: lifestyle' and 'WAP connection: lifetyle'.

In Internet Explorer goto Menu-Options-Connections:

Untick 'Auto detect settings' and make 'Select network: The Internet' to force the Internet connection.

Attempt to connect to www.google.com.

This will only use APN mobilefunemail so you might get 'page not found' if it is not allowed without the proxy server.

Then in Internet Explorer goto Menu-Options-Connections:

Untick 'Auto detect settings' and make 'Select network: WAP network'

Attempt to connect to www.google.comn/wml (or try the WAP homepage which should be in your other phone)

This will use APN mobilefunemail + WAP proxy server which is how most phones are setup.

Create GPRS connection

Description : MMS

Connects to : MMS connection

Access point: mms

User name:

Paswword:

Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0

Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

IP address:

Settings - Accessories - MMS setup

First field: MMS

IP: 010.000.003.101

Port: 9201

Mmsc Address: http://mmsc.gprs.cw.com

Well I'm afraid it did'nt work :D

I just get the page you are looking for cannot be found?

Messed around with a few other settings to no avail.

I'll check with my network provider everythnig is enabled as it should be with regard to the gprs service, other than that I really can't understand it. I've tried the Moto configurator online but I never receive a message from it?

Thanks for all your help Martin :D

What I would do is have a look at settings in the moto v525 because you know these work. The APN mobilefunemail is obviously correct otherwise you would get a connection fail but you can still confirm the proxy IP address is correct. Also check what the WAP homepage is on your V525.

Other things you could try...

(first make sure that IE is untick and select network=WAP network)

Put the port into the IP address i.e 010.000.003.101:9201

Try an external proxy IP address 193.113.200.195:8080

Also you could run WebWapSelect V1.1 and select WAP option and see if that makes any difference.
