I've been about 7 pages through it carefully offline,

martin, I'll read that link offline, thanks :)

Am I right in thinking that the SPV3 can only access full internet sites? So you can't visit normal WAP sites e.g. wap.o2.co.uk?

I hope that's not true :D

The SPV3 (formally known as E200 ) has WAP 2.0 built in so you should have no problems accessing most WAP sites.

Grrr! This is frustrating - I know exactly what ALL of the Orange Pay-As-You-Go settings are for MMS, GPRS WAP, GPRS Internet, WAP, etc. but I don't have a clue how it works on the SPV3 - there are so many settings!

There's a setting in Internet Explorer, then there are settings in Start>Settings>Data Connections, as well as in Data Connections, then pressing the right soft key and entering the Edit Connections and finding yourself upon Dial up connections, VPN, Proxy, GPRS Connections...!!!

I don't know what settings need to go where!

I'd appreciate very much any explanations you can give!!! :)

Firstly you should have the top centre G displayed on the phone to indicate that GPRS has been activated on you account.

In IE make sure that 'auto detect setting' has been ticked.

You now need to find out which Access Point Names are associated to your account. If you get 'unable to connect' error then then you probably have the wrong one added to the GPRS connection.

Test the Internet connection with http://www.google.com

Try all 3 APN's (modify TMobile internet) : internet, internet-int and internet-act

If all three fail to connect then check with t-mobile that you are subscribed to their GPRS internet service.

Test the WAP connection with wsp://www.google.com/wml

Try with all 3 APN's (modify t-zones GPRS ): wap, wap-int and wap-act

One of these APN's should definitely work.

Hello somebody please (kinda looking your direction martin) help me to get connected!

I'll try my best to help you to help me.

I have all the connection details to Orange UK PAYG that I need (including the one that uses paygwap as GPRS accesspointname, the one that uses payginternet as GPRS accesspointname, and the details for PAYG WAP - the one where you dial +447973100500).

All I want to know is where I put these details e.g. in Start>Settings>Data Connections>Menu>Edit Connections on my Orange SPV3, I don't know which connections to put in "Dial Up Connections, VPN Connections, Proxy Connections, GPRS Connections". From this screen, I assume you press back and then select the connection you want in the Data Connections page.

I don't know how to set it so I can connect to just normal GPRS (like you can on a "normal" phone).

I also don't know which settings I need to select in Start>Internet Explorer>Options>Connections.

Thankyou very much for your help :)

Hi,

I am with Optus in Australia and have an O2 Xphone (which I think is the same as the SPV?) It's running windows mobile 2003. I have been trying with varied success to setup GPRS, WAP and MMS. I tried the settings on page 4 of this thread, but my phone doesn't have an option for MMS to connect to an MMS connection. I have tried different settings to no avail. GPRS is activated on my sim as I have both 'G's' when appropriate. Any help would be great!!

Thanks!

Hi atahboub

You probably need to have a play with the settings and see what works and what doesn't. It mostly depends on Vodafone swhich ervices you are subscribed to. Try something like this.

Vodafone Ireland

In Internet Explorer, Menu-Options-Connections, Tick 'Auto Detect Settings'

GPRS Internet

Programs-Settings-Data Connection

menu-Edit Connections

Create GPRS connection.

Description: Vodafone Net

Connects to: The Internet

Access point: isp.vodafone.ie

User name: vodafone

Password: vodafone

Primary DNS:

Secondary DNS:

IP address: (blank)

In data connections set 'Internet Connection: Vodafone Net'

Try and connect to http://www.google.com

If it fails with error 'unable to connect' then check with Vodafone that you are subscribed to ther GPRS internet service.

GPRS WAP

Create GPRS connection.

Description: Vodafone Live

Connects to: WAP Network

Access point: live.vodafone.com

User name: dublin

Password: dublin

Primary DNS:

Secondary DNS:

IP address: (blank)

Create GPRS connection.

Description: Vodafone WAP

Connects to: WAP Network

Access point: wap.vodafone.ie

User name: dublin

Password: dublin

Primary DNS:

Secondary DNS:

IP address: (blank)

Create Dial Up Connection

Description: Vodafone CSD WAP

Connects to: The Internet

Country code: 353

Dialling code: 0

Phone number: 872292222

Username: dublin

Password: dublin

Domain: (blank)

* Enter the dialling code=0 to allow creation of the dialup connection and then re-edit the connection and delete the 0 (making it blank).

Create proxy connection

Description: Vodafone proxy

Connects from: The Internet

Connects to: WAP network

Proxy (name:port): 10.24.59.100:9201

Type: WAP

Username: blank

Password: blank

In data connections set 'WAP connection: Vodafone WAP' (Vodafone Live or Vodafone CSD WAP)

Try and connect to WAP homesite is wsp://wap.e-merge.ie or wsp://www.google.com/wml

MMS setup

Create GPRS connection.

Description: Vodafone MMS

Connects to: MMS connection

Access point: mms.vodafone.net

User name: dublin

Password: dublin

Primary DNS:

Secondary DNS:

IP address: (blank)

Settings - Accessories - MMS setup

First field: Vodafone MMS

IP: 10.24.59.200

Port: 9201

Mmsc Address: http://www.vodafone.ie/mms

Prepaid GPRS?

Vodafone will possibly have seperate APN (Access Point Name) for GPRS on 'Ready to Go'. I am unable to confirm this APN so try speaking to Vodafone Customer Services for the manual settings (APN, username and password). You should just need to create another GPRS connection for Vodafone RTG and attach it to the Internet connection.

Sierra

If the WAP and MMS settings have the same APN (Access Point Name), username and password then you should just need to point the MMS setup to the WAP network.

Home - Start - More - MMS - Settings - Menu - New

Name: MMS

MMSC URL: (MMSC address)

WAP Gateway: (Gateway address)

Done

Preferences

Connect via : WAP network

Done - Home

If the WAP and MMS settings have different APN's then try creating a new GPRS connection for MMS and using the Secure WAP network to link them.

Start - Settings - More - Data Connections

Menu - Edit Connections - GPRS connections

Description: MMS

Connects to: Secure WAP network

Access Point: (apn)

User name: (username)

Password: (password)

Home - Start - More - MMS - Settings - Menu - New

Name: MMS

MMSC URL: (MMSC address)

WAP Gateway: (Gateway address)

Done

Preferences

Connect via : Secure WAP network

Done - Home

Start - More - MMS - Settings

Highlight MMS

Menu- Set as default - Home

Toyota-F1.com

First goto Internet Explorer, Menu-Options-Connections and tick the 'Automatically detect settings' box.

then Home-Programs-Settings-Data connections

Menu- Edit connections

GPRS connections

If you have a GPRS connection called Orange GPRS then edit it and make sure it has the following.

Orange GPRS

Connects to: The Internet

Access Point: orangeinternet

Press Done, Done

Set 'Internet Connection : Orange GPRS'

Open Internet Explorer and try to connect to http://www.google.com.

If it fails to connect then re-edit Orange GPRS and change the access point to payginternet and try again.

Do the same thing with Orange WAP :)

Access Point orangewap/paygwap

In data connection 'WAP connection : Orange WAP'

Test IE with wsp://www.google.com/wml

I finally got my O2 Xphone working with GPRS internet and MMS with Optus in Australia. Here are my settings for anyone else who might find them useful. Thanks heaps for your help too Martin!

GPRS Connections create two connections (these are the names I gave the connections)

- Optus GPRS

- Optus MMS

Optus GPRS

Connects to - The Internet

Access Point - internet

Primary DNS - 202.139.83.3

Secondary DNS - 192.65.91.129

Every other field is blank.

Optus MMS

Connects to - WAP Network

Access Point - mms

Every other field is blank.

Under Data Connections I have

Internet Connection - Optus GPRS

Work Connection - Automatic

WAP Connection - Automatic

Secure WAP Connection - Automatic

Under the MMS app under "Settings" I have created the account "Optus MMS"

Name - Optus MMS

MMSC URL - http://mmsc.optus.com.au

WAP Gateway - 61.88.190.10

Under the MMS app under "Preferences" Ive have "Connect via WAP Network" selected

Hello martin, thanks very much for your reply, I'll try that once I'm offline!

I was wondering can't I use the accesspointname "paygwap" for GPRS - or are the charges exactly the same when connecting to GPRS via paygwap and payginternet?

Well, I've got the GPRS set up but I don't know how I can dial a connection using the +447973100500 number. I've set this up in Data Connection, edit connections and in dial up connections. Whenever I try to connect, it connects (shows the 2 arrows next to the network signal), but then it says unable to find web page.

Then in the Orange CSD WAP place I changed the Domain to the Orange home site, I also tried the IP address (192.168.71.35) and it says Login name failed. I re-entered the Password and username (Multimedia and Orange) but same result. I don't know what's going on

Martin, end of February you submitted all T-Mobile/NL settings in reaction to renzo. Underneath the MMS part...

Try this and see if it helps    ........

.......MMS setup

Create GPRS connection.

Description: tmobile MMS

Connects to: The Internet

Access point: mms

User name: tmobile

Password: tmobile

Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0

Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0

IP address: (blank)

Settings - Accessories - MMS setup

First field: tmobile MMS

IP: 010.10.10.11

Port: 9201

Mmsc Address:http://t-mobilemms

Hi Martin,

All settings worked for me too... except for the MMS service. If deleted all old settings and tried again... but unformtunately without success.

I have found some official MMS-Settings on this T-Mobile Netherlands site (dunno if you need to be logged in for this). The only difference is un/pw combination: 'tmobilemms' in stead of plain 'tmobile'. But this change did not do the trick either.

Have you got a clue ?

Thx
