Guest Richie M Posted March 11, 2003 Report Posted March 11, 2003 Try this: 1. From the home screen use the numeric keys to spell out one of your contacts 2. Once you've filtered down to the name, arrow down to the contact in the list 3. Use the left and right key 4. Press action What happens is you'll cycle through the different communication methods available for that contact. It'll go through all the phone numbers, AND the SMS and e-mail addresses. This is really cool, since it's a quick way to start a message to someone without having to go into the mail client first. And, if I recall correctly, the SMS counter will work if you start the message this way too.
Guest skimask Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 nice one mate. obviously only works with contacts on phone, not SIM, but that's to be expected. Cheers for the tip
Guest yatpeak Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Thanks, this is really useful! Wyatt
Guest Lojt Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Isn't this in the manual? I've been doing this since day one.
Guest fraser Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Yeah, this is how I usually send an SMS, look up the contact and select the SMS number. Not that I've ever read the manual though! That's one of the best things about this phone. The user interface allows you do get into somethings in different ways. For example, click on a recieved message, and select the sender. It opens the contact list, where you can then send an e-mail, SMS, MMS or return the call to their office, home or mobile. What really rocks in terms of user interface design is that this method of chosing the method of contacting them is exactly the same as when you make a call normally. The UI is the best thing that MS can bring to the Smartphone. Forgetting all MS's faults, they know how to make a decent UI!
Guest smokedog Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Ok tell me if I'm being stupid, but what SMS counter?
Guest TooMuch2AM Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 God knows why, but there's no SMS counter in the UK update - just in the DK one...
Guest Lojt Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 God knows why, but there's no SMS counter in the UK update - just in the DK one... Could it be that the danish update is newer than the UK one? Im sure you'll get it sometime. But that update wil probable also remove decertifying...
Guest Richie M Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Isn't this in the manual? I've been doing this since day one. As far as i know & remember it's not in the UK Manual, i'll look when i get home. Usually i (& most others i think) would of opened In Box Select new Message click on Add To type start of name select name select number/email - this takes ages compared to the Tip. Dunno if this does work with the SMS Counter i havent got the DK2 Update, it would be nice if one of you guys confirm if it helps :)
Guest kingbing Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 About the tip: Useful, but it changes the default number to sms, which means when you next want to phone them, you need to select w/h/m again. No biggy. Just pointing it out.
