Guest ray Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 Does anyone know if an improved media player is being developed? As a minimum I would like to see a fast forward / rewind facility for long movies or even long audio files. I've copied a full 90 min movie onto my 256mg card (space for 4 more?) which I've never been able to get half way through because of phone calls etc.. The WMV settings were as for other posts - 36K video and 10K audio - and work well. The only option at the moment is to split the movie into small chunks and copy several numbered files across. A pain and you've got no guarantee that they will be listed sequentially. In order of priority: 1) Fast forward / rewind - 1 minute / large chunk for each keypress? This as a minimum. 2) Playlist or some sort of sequencing/sorting/folders. 3) Rotate movie image 90 degrees to get more on the screen like some PDA software. 4) Removal of other rubbish on the screen? Cheers.
Guest neuronisis Posted December 3, 2002 Report Posted December 3, 2002 Yep, totally agree with you. I put a post like this in the wish list section. It is totally anoying to keep having to watch the start of every movie over and over again. I tried using AVI splitter to cut it in to small chunks as well but this is shareware and you have to pay X amount of£'s/$'s. Anyone know of a free one? or what other software that does the job. As for my settings, which after trying many(and i mean a lot!!) Here's what's worked for me, i.e. no stuttering or having to wait for buffering(pain in ass):- Video Windows Media Video V8(Because i think it uses Variable Bitrate) 160x120 36Kbps 0 Quality Default Buffer...3 Seconds 10 Frames Per Second 8 Second Key Frame Audio: Windows Media Audio V9 8kbps 11kHz mono So far i've encoded 2 Blackadder episodes and 1 movie - Scary Movie 2(DivX-DVD-Rip - From My Own Copy). However i find if there is any problem with a DivX file i.e. freezing during the movie, it will only encode up to and before it. Well that's with windows media encoder anyway. :D
