PIE and cached files?

Has anyone else noticed that Pocket Internet Explorer Seems not to cache any web pages. If I go into history to go back one page my SPV opens up a GPRS session and reloads the page. In PPC I seem to remember there were some registry hacks to change web cache settings. Just curious if anyone else has similar issues with PIE, ideally I’d like cached pages to go to my SD card.

Cheers

This raises an interesting point... Is it possible to browse/edit the SPV registry without installing software on the device?

Well, I know you can't browse the registry using the tools that come with the SDK- there's some sort of registry browser with embedded VC++ but run it on anything but the emulator and you get certificate errors

The supplied registry with the Smartphone emulator could be useful to learn from though, if we ever do find out how to edit the real one!

zenpaq, i noticed the same thing too. has any ever used the application webwhacker? it allows you to browse web pages-off line (yeh, internet explorer does similar) but this will automatically down load chunks of web pages. does anyone know of a similar app? or a way to download pages on your pc and then transfer them to the SPV to read later? ramy.

I'm pretty sure that there is no way to edit the registry directly on smartphone 2k2, you cant on the ppc version on the xda either apparetnly without 3rd party applications. But these of course need certification...

I've noticed the same thing - its always on 0KB. In the WIndows/Temp Internet Files folder there is just a file called index.dat which you cant access....

I think its a bug - surely Orange didn't want us to have to download the same files every day did they? They can not be that cycnical.

The cache is very important, especially now they are stopping the GPRS promotion and we going to be paying through the nose for our megabytes.

They should also consider adding an option to PIE to turn off image placeholders (or make them 'fit to screen') as sometimes it really messes up the layout when images are turned off.

It can be customised in HKLM or HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftInternet Explorer

Have not got my SD with Regedit now, can't say for sure. It has cache and other settings
