Guest simon11 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 My first spv was bug ridden and after doing a hard reset I had allsorts of problems and sent it back. I now have another with the UK update. I have been loath to try hard resets to unlock as my phone has not been one bit of trouble. I have a few Handango utilities and games and I have videos and mp3s on it. It has been behaving for over a month now with no problems what soever. Don't know about the headphone problem yet as I have not used it much. Are most of the problems I read about here due to f***ing about with the unlocking and decerting? I particularly use the gprs and outlook for business use and do not want to bugger them up. Have you any views on this. I see that I am one of only 8% of users who have not unlocked or intend to unlock in the near future. Am I missing all the fun or all the aggro ?
Guest MBoden Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 I unlocked the 15th of january and havent had a single problem except having to power off when a beta program locked up, i haven't lost any data or anything and believe me, my phone have seen some of the worst crashes since i test my own software on it  MBoden
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Hehehe... You've not been on for a while MBoden... Anything cool in the pipeline? P
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 The worst problems i ever had with the phone was when i attempted to apply the UK update ;p
Guest midnight Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 dont fook up the registry is all a can say, but as for unlocking, no, it isnt even possible to cause problems, it just makes this phone oh so much better
Guest MBoden Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Paul> i took some time away from it all, being laid off got to me, but now i'm back in the saddle, and have a few things coming up, the Planus app being the first :-) MBoden
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Cool... So the job thing sorted now? P
Guest MBoden Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Paul> nope, have been to a few interviews but the closest i've gotten is second place, and as we all know there's no points for second place :-( I keep on trying and in the mean time i'm busy making stuff for the SPV. Actually i think that my work with the SPV have gotten me to a few interviews, too bad that there's no smartphone division in Denmark :-/ MBoden
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 Yeah, that sucks... No Microsoft Denmark either? You need to find that killer app we all want and make a mint that way... I for one would pay good money for an FTP client and an SSH client, but i'm probably the minority, heh... P
Guest simon11 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 My needs are basic. I would settle for a decent calendar facility with search and replace etc. Also something like pocket streets would be magic.

Guest Coolboy1982 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 what the majority of people would probably like though is an app that combines the benefits of Repligo with Clearvue possibly with an added feature that even lets us edit documents! But I am probably dreaming here......

Guest MBoden Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Paul > in denmark we have both a Microsoft and Microsoft Business Systems, I dont think Microsoft have development in Denmark, but Microsoft Business Systems is the largest Microsoft development center outside of USA, but there is many people applying for jobs there :-/ all your wishes for new software have been noted ;-) MBoden
Guest Coolboy1982 Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 The majority of people? I don't know what either of these is??? I hope you get your wish though! Do a search! One is a viewer for Word, PDF and Powerpoint that opens all thes straight on the phone, the other Supports a mass of other documents, too, but requires conversion to its own formate on the pc before, so that it would not help you to open an attachment you receive on the spv whilst on the move! Neither of them can edit any documents though!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Here's information about Repligo which includes a link for more information. And another for Clearvue
Guest Ras Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 First time I unlocked my phone I had no end of hastle, loosing caller ID etc... but since my Hard reset yesterday and unlocking again, seems fine and dandy!!! B.T.W. I used the Orange wireless method ;)
Guest simon11 Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Thanks for all the information on Repligo and Clearvue. Must admit they look mighty handy! Simon. ;)
