Guest SirGaz Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Anyone had the old problem of the phone failing to turn on no matter how long (or hard ;) ) you press it? Well, it's not perfect but after a bit of experimentation I've nailed it with 100% repeatability as to a work around. Basically, press the button for about 5 seconds. If the phone doesn't come on release the button, wait about 5 seconds and press it again. The phone will jump to life after a couple of seconds. The not perfect bit refers to the fact you have to press the button twice.
Guest mantrac Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Orange will accept this as a hardware fault. Take advantage of that and get them to send you a new phone. You'll have a spanking new phone that's scratchless within 24 hours and free of charge without affecting your insurance status.
Guest midnight Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 its normal, why bother with a new phone?
Guest TSCRYPTO Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I have had this happen a couple of times in the last four months - for myself, its not a big deal.
Guest SirGaz Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Not a big deal, certainly not enough to warrent a new phone which probably has the same fault. Just blooming annoying at times. Doesn't bother me now I've worked out a workaround though ;)
Guest midnight Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 the main reason it isnt a problem is cos my phone is constantly on, no reason to turn it off
Guest rocknsock2k Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 that would also be my way round it midnight ;)
Guest Ishra Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I find that it always happens if the phone has been left off for a while say 2-3 hours.
Guest paulend Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 i always find that if you pop the memory card out slightly the phone turns on straight away 8)
Guest Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Maybe worth contacting Orange when the SPVx comes out! ;)
Guest kevlar Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I've had this problem all along, before and after the software upgrade, and wether or not the sd card is in. Here is the only guarenteed method to turn on first time every time. PLUG THE CHARGER IN! It works every time. Not 100% practical, but it works. Kevlar
