Guest StoutMan Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Caller2Picture one of the applications of posting of appealing, for Smartphone 2002, comes to leave, and is available to the purchase on Smartphone.net (for example). In addition to the personalisation via the assignment of photograph, you will be able to also define ringing for each correspondent. The software is sold 14.95$ on smartphone.net or via Paypal. A version of demonstration will enable you to test it (demonstration restricted with 3 contacts during 15jours). It also should be noted that this version is not certified yet... 8) http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/u...Dde%26t%3Dfalse
Guest tbrose Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 I downloaded the demo-app yesterday. I like the look of it, but continuously I couldn't get it to work! After messing with it for some time, I finally got it to work, but when I wanted to add a picture to another contact, I ran in to problems again. The first time I assigned a picture to a contact, I put it in the v2r folder. The second time, I put the picture in the my documents folder. After realising that I would never get it to work with the pictures in different folders, I started only using the my documents folder - but that helped just as much! I finally gave up. It's a shame, cause I would really like an application with these functions. Let's hope they'll fix the bugs! - or maybe it's only me that can't get it to work? ;) Oh btw, what's that about paying $14.95 for a program that isn't certified?! Maybe they should do a couple more betas, or at least sell the software cheaper. I couldn't get their previous beta to work at all, so a little more testing would probably be a good idea :) Sorry if I'm sounding to grouchy :D

Guest aiwapro Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 I think V2R works great, but I couldn't get my ringtones to work. I have them on the SD Card, but it wouldn't play them. It shows to correct picture and everything, but only plays that Alarm1.mid for the ringtone. Has anyone else had this problem?
Guest mavisdavis Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Same problem here Ive emailed them..This is the response:- Hello Stuart, My name is Mircea Rila and I'm one of the developers of Caller2Picture. I would like you to please check the following things: 1 & 2. When switching the "Ringtone folder" (Menu -> Ringtone Folder) to "Storage Card", does the list update and show only the ringtones which are available on the root of the Storage Card ("Storage Card" folder on your device)? If you can see those, press "Action" on the list. A scrollable list should appear, and you should see the ringtones again. Press "Play" (from the new "Menu" that now appears). The selected ringtone should play. If you can hear the ringtone in this phase, press "Select" to go back to the main window. You should be able to preview the selected contact's picture and listen to its ringtone in the "Preview" window (Menu -> Preview). If everything is ok, press "Save" and test it. It should work. Please note that you MUST click "Save" for each contact you want to assign (so pressing only one time, just before you exit doesn't save all the contacts, just the one you have currently selected). 3. The contact's name flickers and dissapears sometimes when the full contact list is not loaded yet. So, depending on your number of contact, this may take a while. For example, for my 110 contacts it takes about 7-8 seconds. Then everything should work just fine. Also, after the contact list is loaded, you can press the "Action" button on it to go to a scrollable list of contacts. Here you can also filter the contact list by pressing the first letters of the contact you want to find (the search is T9-like, so by pressing "A", you will get all contacts starting with the letters "A", "B" and "C" and so on. YES YES & YES STILL NO JOY  ..Only wish I`d tried the trial first before buying ;)
Guest aiwapro Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Yeah, thsoe things don't work. I would try and get my money back if I were you. I only used the trial, and since it's not working, of course I won't be buying the full version, and I have installed the trial too. I can't stand when customer support reps send you things to do that they know you have already done, or that they know don't work.
Guest jenneth Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 The problem with ringones on an SD card will be fixed in the next version.
Guest aiwapro Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 I'll probably buy the next version then, but I'll definitely use the trial first, just as I did with this version. I think the people who actually purchased the full product should get a refund.
