Guest Machinly Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Does anyone know if there is a SEGA Master system emulator available or if anyone has thought about making one cos that would be wicked! Just think Sonic is the best game for the SPV cos u basically have one button and directions.
Guest amo Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 Anyone know if the spec of the spv can handle master system emulation? Werent nes and master system same generation consoles, if so it shudnt be a problem.

He then emailed a developer of such an emulator for Pocket PCs to ask if the source was available for porting. After not hearing anything about this again I asked spacemonkey in a PM and he wrote this back: Nah, never got a reply from him. There is an opensource gamegear emulator for the GP32 (a handheld console based on ARM processor) but I haven't looked at it. I might do, but it's a project that I won't be starting for a while yet. I am currently trying to get MAME working.
Guest Machinly Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I got CC/gg a game gear emulator to load and start on my spv. but i cant get the source and cant load any roms. Game gear and master system are basically the same, and almost every master sytem emulator plays game gear games as does the one i tried.
Guest Emad Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 There was an adaptor for the gamegear that allowed master system games to played on it I believe Now just to find that source (or an eager developer ;))
Guest spacemonkey Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 I'd say it's definitely practical from the SPV specs point of view. But as posted above, the only SMS/GG emulator for pocket pc is closed source, the gp32 one would probably be the best bet, but it's a more substantial porting effort cos gp32 is totally different (almost no OS layer). Not on my plate at the moment... I've got bored with porting and started a bespoke game of my own (rpg, announcements in a while when it starts coming together). I've also put Mame on hold cos I was stuck with no valid roms easily available, and I realised all my Mame stuff (roms) is up country at the mo... So, you need another keen developer, if you leave it to me, I probably won't even think about looking at it for 3 months and maybe not even then, depends how things go.

Yeah, exactly! This has been stated before in threads where people requested an emulator for these! And @ Emad, there was also an adptor that allowed gameboy games to be played in SNES. It seemed to be a common thing at that time to make portable game stations little versions of the big systems! Nowadays the Gamboy Advance is a bit more different to the X-BOX and just imagine a Playstation handheld device ;-)
Guest Machinly Posted April 17, 2003 Report Posted April 17, 2003 ok I made it a poll. Lets see if its worth the effort.
