Couldnt be any further of topic here but are there any jewellers or anyone else who knows about whatches who can tell me how good the Omega Seamasters are. someone has offered me one for my 21st and wondered if i would be just paying for the Omega name and image of a bond watch or whether they are seriously good timepieces.

What do people reckon...go for this baby or hold out for a breitling or something?

if i had the money i would buy me a breitling... that's the watch for me.

breitling makes wonderfull and very expensive watches. like i said, if i

had the money...

at the moment i'm stuck with a m&m (big line that's mine)

a lot cheaper then a breitling, totally different design and a wonderfull

chronometer.

I have a breitling and I have to say that I absolutly love it (even more than my phone!!!). Wanted the emergency, but couldnt really trust myself!

Did you know that they are the only watches in the world that are covered for zero g under their warrenty. As a result they give them to astronaughts ;)

I wonder if there is a Breitling owners forum so we can all sit around and be smug 8)

I have the emergency.. 'tis a beaut; it has a Navy blue face and smoke titanium chain.

I have not been tempted to unscrew the antennae, but often worry when I take it off to sleep that I will wake up to find it unscrewed with a host of helicopters hovering over head.

I like chunky watches!

My dad has an Omega (back on track here) and although it keeps attrocious time, it is 30 years old, pre-dates Quartz and has a wrist movement wind-up mechanism (something Seiko now use and market to good affect). It was only when it broke and Omega wanted over £100 to fix it that he gave it up. I was a blooming good watch, especially for it's age.

I have a Junghans Megasolar watch. Extremely cool ;) Solar powered so that there is no battery to replace, water resistant to 50m so taking in the shower or bath is not a problem and best of all is that it resets itself every night to the atomic clock in Grenwich. Even automatically alters for BST without me doing a thing.

Thats sounds like a well cool watch, dont think ive heard of them before. i found the breitling website at www.Breitling.com but it doesnt have any kind of forum, but it does have some nice litle vids about the making of their watches...sorry cronographs.

also heard a story somewhere that becasue of what they did making the emergency, which is a very gadgety, very bond type thing, they were approached to be the watch makers of James Bonds watch and the films producers were very keen on the watch they designed for them, but when the movie makers wanted Breitling to pay them for the privalige of having their watch feature in the movie they turned them down, as they felt their reputation was enough to sell there watches and weren't prepared to pay to advertise in this way....so they went to omega.

interesting..no?

Got my Breitling Emergency in Dubai for £1900- I treated myself after having slogged my guts out over my PhD.
