Guest Crispy Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 How do I run a downloaded Appz (Doom, notebad etc.) on the emulator this is included in the Smartphone 2002 SDK? ... where do I place 'em? Can it be done at all?
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 You place the programs on your Storage Card (via ActiveSync) .. and you can run them through Smart Explorer or place a shortcut to the program which is a folder that lies in IPSM/Windows/Start Menu!
Guest Crispy Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 You place the programs on your Storage Card (via ActiveSync) Well, Don't have a storage card nor a SPV. What I meant was: Can I run downloaded smartphone appz on the Emulator WITHOUT having a SPV? If yes, then how ...
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 OOOOOOHHHHH my bad!! Dunno ... Get a phone dude .. you wont regret it *innocent blink*
Guest Crispy Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 u mean spv apps on ur pc? That was it ;)
Guest rocknsock2k Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 i dunno if theres an emulator available if so do u have it? secondly wat apps wud u wanna use the only ones wud be games right cos theres better version of any buisness etc apps but then theres more advanced versions of the games too so y?:s
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 No ;) Applications you will have downloaded will be compiled for the SPV's ARM CPU. Your PC will be running an x86 CPU, which is of course the CPU the emulator will use. Moved to help and advice.

What is the emulator good for if you cant run smartphone apps on it?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 It only emulates the way the instructions are processed (i think) and the way that they are executed. See picture below:
Guest ajb3000 Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 yea, afaik they have to be compiled for an x86 for them to run in the emulator, and I don't think you'll be able to download any of those. The emulator is designed for testing your own programming.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 Yep, ultimately the emulartor is running off an x86 CPU, theres no getting around that....
