Guest v_patel1 Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 can you run MSN messenger from WAP?
Guest Firaas Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 Nope. WAP is very restrictive on what you can do - and you can only make HTTP WAP connections using the WAP dialup AFAIK.
Guest v_patel1 Posted April 18, 2003 Report Posted April 18, 2003 o rite, ive seen it on the 7650 so i was just wondering the program on the 7650 was Tipic or summat like that, i was just wondering because i was thinking of getting the £4 WAP after april 31st

Guest kingdom master Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 actually msn messenger WILL work through wap as i use it, especially before i got my spv. on the msn.com website there used to be a set up on there. its crappy but it does work.

Heh - that's a HTTP connection, so although it will work, it's not actually "MSN Messenger". What's the URL for it btw?
Guest kingdom master Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 true but it allows u to connect to their service so its no problem, cant remember the url ill see if i can find it
Guest v_patel1 Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 o ya that will be well good any chance you get the £4 WAP on PAYG
Guest martin Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 Use an O2 CSD connection on PAYG. It's free.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 Yeah, an O2 CSD connection is your best bet ;) P
Guest v_patel1 Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 i would but i dont know the WAP setting for it
Guest martin Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 Seek and ye shall find... Try Articles/repository and you will see O2 CSD setup in page2. Create the dial-up and proxy connections. In data connection make CSD active for both Internet & WAP connections. Then you've got free Internet (both HTML & WML pages). And messenger with it... I've been using the free WAP service (as its called) from O2 for a couple of days now and I don't seem to have been charged on my PAYG account.
Guest cpt_andy Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 with the free csd wap connection on o2 do you have to top-up £10 each month? their website seems to imply that you do.
Guest martin Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 I'm not sure about that one, I just bought a pre-pay card and hadn't looked into it any further. I suppose I'll find out soon enough.
Guest v_patel1 Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 yeh u have to paymonthly but whty are the settings?
Guest martin Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 yeh u have to paymonthly but whty are the settings? Underneath the contract settings. but here you go. O2 PAYG WAP Create proxy Description : O2 WAP proxy The Internet, WAP Network, 193.113.200.195, WAP Create GPRS connection (WAP over GPRS) Description: O2 WAP The Internet, payandgo.o2.co.uk, payandgo, password Create Dial Up connection (WAP over GSM) Description: O2 CSD WAP The Internet, 44, 7712, 927927, o2wap, password In data connection make WAP connection = O2 WAP (or O2 CSD WAP)
Guest terminater2_uk Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 with o2 payg you have to put minimum £10 in EVERY month otherwise you lose your free texts and free wap(even if you still have credit left)
Guest Big Ron - No Longer a Mem Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Buy a contract SIM only from scancom.co.uk! £10 for two cards, £1.77 a month each for "itemised billing", and depending on which contract you choose, get either 30min (x2 - you get two SIMs!) of "anytime" free minutes, or up to 750 minutes of "off peak ONLY". Works out a hell of a lot cheaper (£1.77x2 =£3.54 per month, if you stay within the "free" minutes) than PAYG. And if your phone works with an O2 PAYG card, you don't even need to unlock it.
Guest v_patel1 Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 basically u have to top up £10 a month, if you dont u dont get ur free text and wap if to dont top up in a certian period of a couple of months ur sim gets bloked
Guest Big Ron - No Longer a Mem Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Arw there times when you too wonder if anyone is listening? "Do you HAVE to top up your PAYG card by >£10 a month?" "No, you don't. Because it's cheaper to get a SIM only contract. A LOT (65%!) cheaper." Eight hours later... "Yes, you DO have to." All together, boys and girls... "OH NO HE DOESN'T!!!"
