Guest baseborn Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 Hi there - i've had my spv for about a week now, and i've found this site invaluble - i've managed to work most stuff out without having to post, so this is my first one........ Basically, i've been trying to convert video files so that they are playable (and compact enough) on my SPV. I've got Virtual Dub, and Divx 5.0.2 and have downloaded the MyDub settings for Vdub, but whenever i select an MPEG video file to convert to a divx file it comes up with the following message Error initializing audio stream compression: The requested conversion is not possible......(this is when i click on the Save as AVI option) I have no idea what i am doing wrong - i cant make head nor tail of the instructions around either PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!! - i have just orderd a large SD card so i want to get this sorted asap! Cheers Base P.s - i am also using the regeditor change to store ringtones on the storage card - is their anyway you can do this and still use custome ringtones for each caller??
Guest martin Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 There are many help topics open for DIVX. Try these . http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=42273 http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic...?t=2563&start=0 Hopefully you'll find what your looking for in there.

Guest PsychoDave Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 Hi there, welcome to the site. I don't have virtualdub with me (@ work :D ) but i seem to remeber this error message when i first started playing with divx. I think it means you have the wrong settings under audiocompression. If you look at these settings you should have MPEG layer 3 selected as the audio compressor and the box on the right should give you the available options for the file you are converting. Try changing the settings to something like 11025hz mono. I think its either 16kb/s or 18kb/s but i could be wrong. Hope this helps a bit. If not try asking clinteastman. He knows most of the things that trouble us mere mortals when it comes to converting files. Good luck and have fun. ;) :)
Guest baseborn Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 Cheers Mate!! Works fine now - result..... Thanks again Base
