Guest yatpeak Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Hi, Could anyone tell me whether it is possible to have your answerphone on your SPV, as opposed to your network provider? If so, how could I do it? Thanks, Wyatt
Guest vampyre69 Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 As far as I can tell it would not be fully automated as you would have to have a peice of software that would record conversations and mute the mic you would then have to pickup the call or the software would have to do it. While all this happening the software would have to know that the call is to be recorded and it would have to play a message saying "sorry I'm not here...." Rather a difficult one I would think... so I think the answer would be no. Unless some supa-coder wants to have a go at it?
Guest spacemonkey Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Similar software has ben made in the past for pocket pc phone hybrids. It does have some downsides, such as not being able to work while you are on another call, eg if you were using GPRS you'd need to switch out of GPRS so the answerphone software could take a call. No-one seems to have expressed an interest in porting it to Smartphone 2002, and I think it would have limited interest in the market. One gain of having something like this tho, would be you could assign a different answerphone message for different contacts which could be fun. I'd also be keen on a mp3 playing mechanism which could play while you were in a call, so you can be talking to someone while playing "pub-sounds.mp3" in the background... or talking to the wife while playing "work-sounds.mp3" :)
Guest Bazz Posted March 12, 2003 Report Posted March 12, 2003 Also it wouldn't work if you were not on the Network (e.g. on the tube or had your phone turned off). That to be is the whole point of answerphone (and to dodge calls ;-)). Very limited use at all if you ask me...
Guest yatpeak Posted March 13, 2003 Report Posted March 13, 2003 I hadn't thought of those points... Thanks, Wyatt
