Guest deejayry Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 Does anyone know of ant software which can enable navigation on the SPV from the pc's keyboard? The main thing i would want it for is typing text mesages, and possibly composing MMS messages. Obviously the more functions i can control remotely the beter.
Guest Gorskar Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 You can use Remote DSP. It is designed for the pocket PC, but will work fine on the smartphone platform.
Guest midnight Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 yup, remote dicplay control from ms does it, its designed for pockets pc's but it does work. check out ... Remote Display
Guest spiderboy Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 Microsoft provides this handy little app that allows you to controll all aspect of your phone on your PC look here Remote Display Control for Pocket PC.
Guest NederSoren Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 Yep.. got this cool little app, 2 days ago, and got it to work with a great help from Monolithix (Thx Mono ;) ) Its quite a show of...:)
Guest deejayry Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 Wicked that good stuff, anyone know the keyboard shortcus for the two top butons (the ones that say programs and contacts when on home page) Oh and any way i can get the options screen down to the right size?
Guest spiderboy Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 F1 and F2 and I have no idea what your second Q refers to but on the file menu is and option for screen size.
Guest deejayry Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 When you activate the phones part of the software, the window is bigger than the display on the phone (prob because of bigger disp on pocket pc). You cant see all of the buttons, what i want to do is shrink the window dowwn so it fits on the phones display.
Guest casper508 Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 As its not designed for the phone it cant be skrunk down im afriad. Some mentioned here that an SPV version will be coming out soon. Cas
Guest midnight Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 errr, its actually only a difference in pixel size on the monitor compared to the display of the smartphone, ie, its still 176 x 220 kinda like if you switch res on the pc, 100x100 is a different size depending on the res (800x 600 compared to 1024 x 768 etc)
Guest jhew Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Here's a little keychart I made for this prog. I've posted it b4 but cant be bothered to find the link, so here it is again. Hope it helps.....spv remote chart.jpg
Guest deejayry Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Thanks for the key chart jhew, thats just what i wanted. but at the moment i have given up on remote control, and any othe non-cert software, as my phone re-certified its self yesterday. see post http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic...p=181803#181803 ^--- thats sorted now, and remote control is bcak online, but one question, how do you close the phones part of the software?
Guest Gorskar Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Use Task manager. You can get an unlimited uncertified shareware version from http://www.binarys.com/smartphone/taskmanager_en.asp or there is a certifed task manager available to buy from http://www.iastyle.com/
Guest Playdoh Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 I seem to remember during the Tips and Tricks webcast that the Microsoft guy used a version of remote display (the Pocket PC app) that was specifically for Smartphone. He said it would me made available as a "powertoy" soon...lets hope so ;)
Guest yoos Posted April 30, 2003 Report Posted April 30, 2003 This app rocks and the chart is great! Thanks! Man I'm learning a ton each day and night I read stuff on this site (can't get away from it!)
Guest mdawkins Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Can you install this software from an SD card? as I cannot install software onto the phone using ActiveSync at the moment, as I tried to install the Terminal Services client for Pocket PC recently (bad mistake!) and this keeps trying to install itself on the phone whenever I try to install another piece of software!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Go to IPSMWindowsAppMgr and delete the folder for the offending application...
Guest mdawkins Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Thanks for that it has now installed and some others apps that were obviously in a queue or something like that!. I have run the software on my PC but how do you run the program on the SPV do I run it from Smart Explorer?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Run it on your SPV, it won't fit the screen so you'll have to blag it a bit... ;) Basically, click the screen once once it has loaded. Then select connect and click it, you will get a new screen with "PPP_PEER" on it. On your PC open the Remote Display control and click OK on your phone, it should then kick in on the PC.
Guest mdawkins Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Where do I run the install from on the SPV as there is no shortcut in the Programs Menu, but there is an entry for the software in IPSMWindowsAppMgr?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 It should be a Windows installer that puts a shortcut to "cedisp" in your phones start menu...(through Activesync)
Guest mdawkins Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 I've got it working now!, I had forgotten that I had installed the software on the SD card! so I ran the program from Smart Explorer. Thanks for all your help
Guest hybrid_peanut Posted May 22, 2003 Report Posted May 22, 2003 I installed the remote DSP onto my laptop which in turn installed it onto my SPV (smartphone 2002) but I can't seem to access it on my phone!.. There isn't a link in the programs menu... I have tried to run it from smart explorer but all it fins is a *.tmp file. I installed it to the CD card, should I have installed it to the phone memory? :? Nevermind!!! I installed it to my phone memory and it worked fine!
