I like smartface - the trouble is that it over rights personal ring tones :cry: (ring tone for when wife calls attached) - does anyone know a.n.other app that does like smartface - but works with personal ring tones ... but ... is free ?

hello,

smartface does over rights your personnal ring tones because... it is too heavy :)

let me explain. when a phone call arrives, the system (the spv) analyse the phone call, find the caller name in your contacts, find the ring tone, try to load it and then play it. on top of this, smartface tries to load an image for this caller... so sometimes the loading of big ringtones failed (the bigger (in size) the img is, the more ther is some chances that loading he ringtone will fail...)

i'm gonna work on this right now, i'll let you know if i find a solution ;)

sounds right to me - the problem is intermittent - I find if I close some of the other apps (a game in the back ground, task manager etc) it will work. Anyway if you find anything pls let me know.... thanx ;)

so if i were to use files which were only a few kb for both the picture and the personal ringtone there's more chance that both the picture will appear and the sound will be played?

just wanted to clarify the situation hope i don't sound stupid!

in fact it depends more on the cpu usage... if there is a lot of task running, the call manager has less time to load the ringtone, and smartface has less time to load the pictures... so if the picture is little it will take less time to load (same goes for the ringtone)...
