Guest ubergeek Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Right, what would you like to see in the next version of the Planus app? (Please keep bug reports etc. off this thread) ;)
Guest Coolboy1982 Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Right, what would you like to see in the next version of the Planus app? (Please keep bug reports etc. off this thread) ;) how about mms?
Guest ubergeek Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Ooh, good idea, but not for a while. A bit out of the Planus scope, but we'll consider it.
Guest EMGenius Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 this is a repeat from the planus SMS thread, just posting it here so they are al in one place!!! I wrote:feature request, I have one! when you first open the prog the two 'soft keys' say 'send' and 'menu', would it be possible to default one of them to 'add to:' untill a 'to' number is added, the this could change back to whatever it was before. let me clarify what i am taliking about with an example; when you log it the send key would say 'add to' instead of send (you cant send untill you add someone anyway!!). Once something is entered into the 'to:' field the send key would change back to send. Another possible alternative would for one of the keys to say 'add to' for a couple of seconds or so then change back to 'send' (one of the first things you would do it add a contact? - i do). I dont know if this is possible? some sort of dynamic programming that could recognise when something had been entered in the 'to' field, or a time delay after which the key changes function?? probabley just dreaming here, but it would be a nice function, rather than going to menu and then 'add to', would make the prog that little bit easier to use; after all usability is extreemly an important part of any program! Oh and something else i have just though of while typing... when adding a contact, you have to click menu, then select 'planus SMS' which is at the botton of the list (which means pressing up once or down several times). if the 'planus SMS' was made the deault option this would cut out some key presses hence making the process shorter. lets face it, if you have got to the contact adding stage, it is pretty obvious that you want to add a contact, so why not make oit the default... Oh and request no. 3. WHen you go into planus and select menu>'to' the indicator selects the 'to' field, is there any chance that this could jump straight into the contacts list? You may have notices that all of these are about usability: i am a bit of a usability freak, sorry!!! ajb3000 wrote:requests 1 and 2 MBoden will have to comment on. As for number 3, this is unlikely as what if someone wants to text a number not in your phones memory? then Mboden wrote: 1) I agree that send should be disabled until a recipient has been entered, this is the way outlook does it , and so should Planus 2) Yes , i guess that the PlanusSMS menu item could be placed on top, but bear in mind that this is a change to the way contacts work, if you start the planus app , press home, go into contacts (planus app still running) you have the PlanusSMS item in the contacts menu. Hooks into other programs menus should be placed last IMHO 3) if the "To" menu item took you to contacts, how would you enter a number not in your contact list ? some would prefer going directly to contacts , some to manual entry, i you ever participated in a SMS voting or such , you don't want to put them in you contacts to send ? comments welcome!...
Guest Coolboy1982 Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Ooh, good idea, but not for a while. A bit out of the Planus scope, but we'll consider it. Well, not that I'd ever send one, but in general I suppose it would make you good money!
Guest Coolboy1982 Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Another thing: Planus SMS is a little program, right? So that could be further developed to replace the inbuilt message functions more or less completely, cause they one is rubbish. You could do this by not just including MMS, but also emails with better functionality (e.g. multi pop3 accounts, filters, etc.)! Now I am aware that sending emails would not make you any money, but you could then sell the program for say a 5er. Just some ideas of mine anyway...
Guest EMGenius Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 change the icon - it aint pretty short and sweet request!!
Guest asif @ planus Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 This Look better? ;) Asif32.gif
Guest EMGenius Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 its a bit plain and boring - maye a competition - 10 free texts to the winner!!!!! ;)
Guest arunhallan Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 1.reports 2.mms 3.t9 that stays after switchin fone off
Guest ajb3000 Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 reports will be comming in the form of a web page with the status of the last 10 sms you sent on it (SPV compatible of course) MMS is unlikely in the forseeable future (maybe in the distant future) how do you mean about t9? the app just uses your phones t9 system.
Guest EMGenius Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 re icon, here is my quick attemp, my first go at making an icon - so dont take the piss too much!!! I know it looks a bit shite, but if someone had any tallent with photoshop or something this could be made to look good?! Oh, and i intended it to have a see through background - but i could not figure this out in piantbrush!!!!!! (please dont flame me too badly!!!!!!)my mail icon.JPG
Guest MBoden Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 ehm, you need both a 16x16 pixels icon and a 32x32 pixel icon :-) MBoden
Guest EMGenius Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 :? right then!!! lets have another go!!! bear in mind that these were done in paint, so if someone who can use phooto shop will be able to actualy make them look good! (treat these as a concept - to be iproved upon!my mail icon sml.JPGmy mail icon 2.JPG

Guest EMGenius Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 so you didn't like my icon then ... ;) (not in the update)
Guest asif @ planus Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Hehehe, I didn't realise we were making an update :) Nice icon tho ;) Asif
Guest ajb3000 Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 There will be one more update released in a couple of weeks, if we get an absolutely fantastic logo before then we will include it
Guest EMGenius Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 any chance of making the send button (now disabled to strt with) into a to: button untill you enetr someone, in the next update?! ;)
Guest EMGenius Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 damn right! have been a student for 4 years, i work hard at it!!!
Guest bdmoore Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 It would be good if you could incorporate some kind of inbox viewer (just for SMS?) that allowed you to view your messages and reply using Planus - would save having to swap between the normal Inbox and the Planus app, and would stop you having to re-enter numbers when replying. Other than that it's pretty cool - well done 2 all @ Planus!! ;)
Guest ajb3000 Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 I don't know how that could work as the current SMS viewer is incorporated into the OS.
Guest MBoden Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 It would make a major rewrite , and i'm not even sure that would help :-(
