I can't really do anything about the "Couldn't establish GPRS Connection" problem until i get some more info about it :-(

Who have had it and still has it ? Does using passthrough work ?

Who have had it and has fixed it, and what did you do to fix it ?

I'd suggest checking if Internet Explorer works during the times you can't get this app to connect.

I've been having serious GPRS problems for the last two months with this phone, it rarely works. When I get "Couldn't establish GPRS Connection" in this app, it's always down to a problem with the GPRS back end on the phone. Usually takes a reboot to fix. "Microsoft powered" indeed.

MBoden, any investigation would need to take this into account. It's Orange's job to sort out the GPRS.

As I noted before, as soon as I used the application and found that it wasnt working (ie couldnt connect to server etc), my web access failed too. PIE functionality only returned when the app was deleted.

I really want to give the app another try, but am reluctant to until Planus indicate that some fixes have been applied relating to the issues that have been brought up.

tscryptio, I get the exact same problem, but not just with the Planus application. Any time I get the phone into this state (which it has been consistently doing for the past two months), no GPRS applications work. A reboot is always required.

Do you ever see it normally, or is it just with the Planus app installed? I'm wondering if perhaps this is a generic problem with third-party apps that use GPRS...perhaps something else I have installed (e.g. Snake) that is breaking things. May not be a bug in the app in question, but the phones GPRS API calls.

No, in general my GPRS access has behaved itself pretty much so over the last 4 months. It just went tits up as soon as I tried to use the app - and of course, the app didnt work - I got a number of different error messages when trying to send. GPRS only returned when I deleted the app and did a soft reset.

Could you try repeating it? See if the problems resurface?

BTW, I'm not with the Planus guys in any way, but I am getting a load of GPRS problems that I'd like to get to the bottom of. I'm pretty sure they are all related in some way.

I think you'll find that a soft reset without the deleting the app would have also fixed the problem. If you look on the main board a lot of people have been having the same problem you were experiencing with GPRS over the past week or so.

Yeah, you should always do one thing at a time before coming to a conclusion about a problem. Removing the app then rebooting doesn't mean that removing the app fixed the problem. It means that either rebooting or removing the app fixed it.

Assuming that we are all meaning reboot by "soft-reset" that is...

And, the reboot thing fixes the problems I have. But only for a few pages worth of data, then it breaks again.

Pass through connection does not work: here is what i did...

I tried to send a message just now, only to find that GPRS was not working , either in the app (where i tried first) or in IE. so I changed my connection from Orange GPRS to automatic, and plugged the little bugger into its docking station.

I then tried to send a messge using the app through 'pass through' but it did not work. I thought that i would try using IE (on the phone) to connect to the web (using pass through still) and that worked. I tried the app again for good measure; but bugger me if it didn't work again.

the message i go was the could not connect one.

oh bollox, just ried to send again and gor another message - this is turing into a longer post thatn i had intended!

the new message it:

"network eror prevents sending - code ERR: 105"

(i am still plugged into my comp using pass through and the phone can connect to the net.)

(for good measure i just tried again after checking i could connect to the net - same '105' error)

this post probably help bugger all, but at least i tried and i am avoidingdoing my dissertation (can you tell)...

ERR: 105 means invalid delivery address. Do you spaces in your contacts phone numbers?

NOTE: The next version of the app will address the space problem.

That explains my earlier problem, ajb. All my contacts have spaces in the numbers. It's the only way to comprehend them while drunk! ;)

The second message I sent was from a contact, as opposed to a manual number entry. Explains why the first one worked and no others...I'll just need to wait for the next version I guess.

god damn, i just used that outlook thing to change all my numbers to +44 to make them work for texts and this also put spaces in them. BUGGER!!!!!

ok, even without the error 105, there is still an issue with the pass through connection.

EMGenius > what passthrough problem is that ?

i use passthrough extensively without problems ?
