cant install active sync

i did put cradle and spv in before putting in cd to install active sync. the cd brings up the first page and when i press the arrow all that comes up is a grey blank screen. i have seen posts with uninstall active sync but i cant even get to install it. i have tried to remove usb root hub and restart but usb root hub remains and still the cd will not go further than first page. i am running windows 98 and have tried 2 cds with same results. help ?

Are you running 98 or 98Second edition?

Have you tried rebooting since this happened?

Tried downloading the latest version from MS and installing i from your PC (not CD)?

Google "ActiveSync 3.6", first hit should be the MS download link....
