Guest darrylstott Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Hi, I would like to unlock my phone, but if i do it via orange, will it exentually be re-locked because i haven't developed any software as mentioned in the online agreement thing? Also, i installed All-Explorer from my SD Card but it wants an activation code, but it has yet to be emailed to me after going through the process. If i don't have All-explorer working, is there another way to run .cab files? also, is there a way to play divx ffiles without unlocking? Thanks, Darryl
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Hi, I would like to unlock my phone, but if i do it via orange, will it exentually be re-locked because i haven't developed any software as mentioned in the online agreement thing?Theres no guarentee they won't, however there has been no indication so far as that they will. For the mean time you are safe to unlock with this method imho Also, i installed All-Explorer from my SD Card but it wants an activation code, but it has yet to be emailed to me after going through the process. E-mail their support address: [email protected] If i don't have All-explorer working, is there another way to run .cab files? also, is there a way to play divx ffiles without unlocking? When your phone is in the cradle and connected via ActiveSync, go to My Computer and Mobile devices, double click your SmartPhone and go to: IPSM > Windows > Start Menu Place it in any folder and it will be viewable when you hit the "Programs" softkey and go into that folder. You can then execute it like any other app. There is no way to play divx's without PMVP.
Guest darrylstott Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Hi, Thank you for your reply. I will go ahead and attempt to unlock it. Darryl
Guest darrylstott Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Hi, I tried unlocking via orange but i just get dumped on the page saying that i will receive a message within 5 minutes stating that my phone is unlocked but the message never arrives. I have tried this 3 times now with no luck. Some people have mentioned a small program called action regsiter that should be downloaded but there is no option to download this file. Can anyone help?
Guest Mesh121 Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 you could always do the auto-decert way (Will or know known as will i think) he has a good programme that works ;)
Guest darrylstott Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Does anyone have a link to this program or a way to contact him?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 The auto-decerter is available from my site and there is a thread in Articles covering all you need to know about it. I ~think~ if you get your IMEI/phone number combo incorrect 2 times it gives you the option ot download Action Register, however as its not giving any errors it would imply your phone is registered... Is your phone new from Orange or second hand from eBay? Have you attempted to decert before? Done anything else unorthadox with it?
Guest fozzie Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 I was having the same problem. My phone was already registered (as I had unlocked it OTA before) but I still needed to download the app (enter incorrect IMEI twice) and re-register using my number in the +44 format.
Guest darrylstott Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 As i said earlier, i cannot get the app so please stop mentioning solutions which include it. Thanks.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 As i said in my above post. If you get your IMEI/phone number combo wrong twice it will give you the option to download the Action Register app. Go to the site, put random shite in all the fields (makes sure you put only numbers into IMEI and phone number fields, and start it with +44) and click unlock. Repeat once and follow the instructions to download Action Register...
Guest darrylstott Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Hi, I got that far but it says Download to PC or Download to SPV. I first tried to SPV, it said an sms will be sent with a link, no message arrived. I then tried download to PC and a file called 'ActionRegister.ARM.cab' what do i do with this file? if i double click it it attempts to extract. If i copy it to the phones start menu it doesn't appear in there. What do i do? Thanks. EDIT - I managed to get it on the start menu by changing the extension to just .arm but it won't run when i click it.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 A .cab is an installer for SmartPhone (cab's are something completely different on grown up windows, which is why winnzip associates itself with them). Try putting the file, with its full filename, into a subdirectory on your start menu. The start menu can take a while to update sometimes. Then go to that folder in your Programs list and run it like a normal app. Then follow the on screen instructions.
Guest darrylstott Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Okay, it appears to have installed, what's next?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 From the AR download page on dev.orange.com: Using the Action Register Application 1. From the Programs menu choose the Action Register Application 2. Make sure your phone number is correct in the field provided, if it’s not correct please enter in the correct phone number. 3. Click on the register button. 4. Click yes on the confirmation page. 5. Make a connection to the Internet.Â
Guest darrylstott Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 I get to stage 4 but it goes nowhere and does nothing, i just click Register then Yes, but it does nothing.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Have you tried OTA unlocking again now? (After making a connection to the internet, fire up IE and load mobile modaco or something....)
Guest darrylstott Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Keep it connected then try registering for unlock on the website again?
Guest darrylstott Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 I just tried but still nothin :-(
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 I'm stuck then.... Tried doing it with a live GRPS connection? That's my last resort, other than that all you can do is go over the sticky thread on this at the top of this forum or try manually decerting.
Guest darrylstott Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 I have tried it with a live connection yes. When i select reigster then yes, it opens a GRPS connection for a couple of minutes then closes it but nothing happens. I tried loading smartris but it gave the usual error. I have no idea what i am doing wrong, in active register it says 'Phone is registered, action register is running' does this mean it thinks it's already done?
Guest fozzie Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Darryl, Please confirm: 1. That your GPRS is working ok i.e. you can view web pages (and have done previously) 2. When you ran the Action Register program you entered your number in the +44xxxxxxxxxx format. 3. Run it again and tell me what it says at the bottom of the screen. If your last registration was succesful it should say something like 'already regsitered'. If it does, re-register making sure your phone number is in the above format. (The app doesn't close after registering so don't worry about nothing happening after hitting the register button). 4. Re-apply for decert on the Orange site, again, making sure your phone number is in the +44xxxxxxxxxx format. 5. Decert should come through in a minute or so. If in step 4. it didn't say 'already registered' then you may have a problem with GPRS.
Guest fozzie Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 ...in active register it says 'Phone is registered, action register is running' does this mean it thinks it's already done? Yes, it means your phone is registered with Action Register (but not necessarily unlocked). But, a lot of the problems seem to be that the phone has been registered as 0xxxxxxxxxx and not +44xxxxxxxxxxx (that is, your usual Orange number without the 0 and a +44 at the front). You can re-register with the correct format just to make sure.
Guest zimac Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 The process seems to be broken for a week or so. Can anyone confirm that they have used the method since last week?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 22, 2003 Report Posted April 22, 2003 Itshould be back up and working now...
